According to many experts, businesses and tourism workers, Ca Mau and Bac Lieu (old) have many similarities. Both possess the ecosystem of the lower Mekong River with mangrove forests, long coastlines, Southern cultural identity and the interweaving of the three Kinh - Hoa - Khmer ethnic groups, creating a rich treasure of cultural heritage. This is a favorable condition for Ca Mau (new) to develop cultural tourism. If Bac Lieu stands out with the song "Da co hoai lang", the art of Don ca tai tu and the image of the heroic Bac Lieu Prince, then Ca Mau is the sacred land at the end of the South with many places associated with national heroes. From these similarities and differences, the merger promises to create advantages to turn the southernmost land into an attractive destination, especially with eco-tourism, community and cultural products, bringing unique experiences to domestic and foreign tourists.
In the first 6 months of 2025, the culture, sports and tourism sector of Ca Mau province after the merger has effectively implemented many key tasks, contributing positively to the socio-economic development of the province. Advisory and direction work closely follows the orientation, ensuring progress, especially in organizing cultural, artistic, sports and tourism activities associated with political and historical events, creating a positive impression in the community.

Ca Mau tourism has strongly recovered, maintained stable growth momentum, aimed at sustainable development, associated with nature conservation and effectively exploited eco-tourism, culture - history, beliefs and typical cuisine of the Mekong Delta (MD). In 6 months, Ca Mau welcomed about 1,580,300 visitors, an increase of 28.5% over the same period in 2024; reaching 56.4% of the yearly plan. Total revenue is estimated at 2,140 billion VND, an increase of 30%, reaching 51.2% of the yearly plan. Promotion, promotion, technology application, and digital transformation have been promoted, improving service quality and the image of local tourism.
Many destinations have invested in and upgraded specific tourism products such as community tourism models associated with mangrove ecosystems, source tourism routes combined with visits to cultural works such as the house of the Bac Lieu Prince... Tourist areas such as Ca Mau Cape, Quan Am Phat Dai, U Minh Ha National Park, Khai Long continue to attract tourists. The tourism industry also promotes at cultural and tourism events and festivals, associated with introducing OCOP products (one product per commune), local culinary culture, creating more momentum for socio-economic development after the merger.
Notably, immediately after the merger, Ca Mau province established a Tourism Development Steering Committee headed by Mr. Ngo Vu Thang, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, as Head of the Committee; Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thanh, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, as Permanent Deputy Head of the Committee, together with leaders of departments, branches, and People's Committees of communes and wards. The Steering Committee is responsible for advising the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee in coordinating the implementation of tourism development programs in line with the province's socio-economic orientation; at the same time, directing and urging the development and implementation of plans and policies for sustainable tourism development.
Mr. Tieu Minh Tien, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that, promoting the success of the first organization, the 2nd Ca Mau Crab Festival with the theme "Ca Mau Crab - Forest scent, sea taste" is expected to take place from November 16-18, 2025. The event aims to honor the value of the crab industry - with a farming area of over 360 thousand hectares, an average yield of 100 kg/ha, an output of over 25,200 tons/year - while promoting the Ca Mau Crab brand, a typical OCOP product, associated with local socio-economic development. The festival is also an opportunity to connect domestic and foreign enterprises and investors, build a crab production value chain, promote the application of science and technology in farming, processing, and improve productivity and quality. Thereby, contributing to introducing the economic, cultural, tourism, and environmental potential and calling for investment in Ca Mau.

In order to ensure the target of double-digit tourism growth, the province continues to review the tasks and tourism development targets of the two provinces before the merger to advise the Provincial People's Committee to issue the Tourism Development Plan for the last 6 months of 2025. Striving to reach 8.4 million visitors (up 16%) and total revenue of VND 8,585 billion (up 16.8% over the same period).
The province will coordinate with the National Tourism Administration, relevant organizations, businesses and sectors to review, survey and evaluate tourism potential after the merger, especially advising the Provincial People's Committee to issue a project to develop tourism products based on the strengths of the two previous localities. The focus is on products associated with cultural values such as the art of Don ca tai tu, the brands of Cong tu Bac Lieu, Bac Ba Phi; ecological products such as the diverse forest system of U Minh Ha, Ca Mau Cape; tourism associated with salt and wind power brands, etc. to create a unique mark for Ca Mau tourism.
At the same time, urgently advise on the development and implementation of the Legendary U Minh Night Project, as a basis for submission to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration, and for the policy of developing the province's night-time economic development project.
After the merger, Ca Mau province has 2 national tourist areas recognized by the Prime Minister: Mui Ca Mau National Tourist Area and Nha Mat - Bac Lieu National Tourist Area, which will be prioritized for investment before 2030, commensurate with its potential. The province strengthens regional linkages in tourism development, especially with Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and localities with strengths; promotes image promotion, domestic and foreign tourism, participates in key tourism fairs and events.
Ca Mau continues to review and improve the quality of tourism human resources through specialized training, enhancing foreign languages and vocational skills, aiming at international standards. At the same time, the province promotes administrative reform, perfects the organizational structure, arranges personnel after the merger and implements a two-level government.
The province focuses on achieving double-digit economic growth targets, effectively organizing activities under the event program "Ca Mau - Destination" in 2025. Digital transformation is strongly promoted, supporting businesses to promote products on digital platforms, building a digital tourism ecosystem. The province completes tourism development and promotion projects, builds a brand strategy until 2030, with a vision to 2050; at the same time, strengthens promotion, destination surveys, and business connections.
Up to now, Ca Mau has completed the organization of the two-level government apparatus, creating new resources and development space, expanding infrastructure, contributing to promoting economic growth. In July 2025, the province organized the launching ceremony of the 180-day emulation movement, striving to achieve 8.8% growth in the last 6 months of the year. The event not only celebrated the 80th anniversary of National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), but also demonstrated the province's political determination in the journey of sustainable development. This is an opportunity for the entire Party, government and people of Ca Mau to promote the spirit of solidarity, accelerate, break through, and create solid momentum for the double-digit growth target in the following years.

Accordingly, 5 projects and works to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 2025) will be started and inaugurated, including: starting the construction of the Ca Mau - Dat Mui expressway; inauguration of Phan Ngoc Hien Square; inauguration of the Dam Doi - Cai Nuoc - Cha La National Historical Monument; inauguration of the Sports Complex in Bac Lieu ward; launching the Yearbook of Vietnamese Heroic Mothers.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thanh, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province, said that in order to contribute to achieving the double-digit growth target, the tourism industry continues to invest in completing key tourism infrastructure, improving quality, developing typical destinations and promoting and advertising prominent landmarks such as: Ca Mau Cape, U Minh Ha, Hon Da Bac, Tac Say Church, Nam Hai Mother, Bac Lieu Prince's House, Nha Mat - Bac Lieu Tourist Area...
In addition, the province will organize activities in the event program "Ca Mau - Destination 2025", notably the "2nd Ca Mau Crab Festival - 2025" and the event "Hello Ca Mau" to create a spread, attract tourists and promote the image of local tourism.
