Along the 300m long wall on Nguyen Huu Canh Street, near the Zoo (Saigon Ward), a series of murals depict successive parades, with images of military vehicles, soldiers, airplanes, artillery... vividly painted on the concrete wall.

The work was carried out by a group of artists led by Mr. Le Tuan Minh Vien (40 years old) since mid-June, under the project "Beautiful Vietnam" on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of national reunification, the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day September 2 and the traditional day of the People's Public Security. The total area of the painting is nearly 2,000 m², covering a section of wall located on a wide, airy sidewalk with many trees, creating a favorable space for construction and viewing.

The content of the paintings is arranged according to the timeline of the parade, starting with the scene of fighter planes taking off from Bien Hoa airport, followed by the parade blocks of many forces: army, police, female commandos... creating a solemn and heroic atmosphere.

Many paintings depict air forces in the sky, tanks rolling slowly, accompanied by soldiers sitting solemnly on the vehicles... Another scene shows infantry in neat uniforms, marching in a vertical formation, interspersed with red flags with yellow stars fluttering...

The artists used strong, sharp colors to express the metallic shine of military equipment as well as highlight the solemn, determined demeanor on the soldiers' faces. Small details such as badges, white gloves, shiny black heels or shoulder guns were all taken care of, ensuring accuracy and aesthetics.

About 20 artists participated in the project, working in shifts from morning to afternoon. Each shift had 6-10 people, depending on progress and weather conditions.

“We consulted many documentary images to ensure that the details of the uniforms, weapons, and equipment were all true to reality. Each parade block was sketched in standard proportions, with a balanced layout to create a sense of steady and solemn movement,” said Hoang Thai (36 years old), a member of the group of artists.

"Drawing a character portrait is much more difficult than a landscape. Every look and expression of a soldier must show his spirit. Many details such as military ranks, hats, guns, and military vehicles are also carefully processed to ensure accuracy," said Mr. Hoang Thai.

Coila excitedly took a photo with the vivid painting. The female Filipino tourist has been in Ho Chi Minh City since the end of April and was impressed by the image of hundreds of thousands of people joining in the parade atmosphere on the streets.

The project is currently about 70% complete. Some sections are being painted in detail for portraits and uniforms. The painting is expected to be inaugurated in mid-August. When completed, the entire project will contribute to beautifying the urban landscape, turning the road into an outdoor art space, bringing a new visual experience to residents and visitors.
