From 2022 to present, there have been 10 investment projects in the field of energy pellets approved by the People's Committee of Quang Tri province with a design capacity of about 870,000 tons/year. However, up to now, only 2 projects of Quang Tri Trading Corporation Joint Stock Company and Tan Ky General Trading and Service Company Limited have been completed and put into operation. The remaining projects are completing investment procedures.
Among the 10 projects that have been approved for investment, there are a number of projects with large investment capacity such as: Pellet production factory of VBE Quang Tri Joint Stock Company with a capacity of 120,000 tons of pellets/year, total investment of 292 billion VND; Austwood Quang Tri Energy Pellet Production Factory of Austwood Quang Tri Joint Stock Company, capacity of 150,000 tons/year, total investment of 465 billion VND; Charcoal plywood and wood pellet production factory of HD Nam Phat Joint Stock Company, designed capacity of 179,000 tons/year, total investment of 499 billion VND...

According to the Project on sustainable and effective development of the wood processing industry for the period 2021-2030 approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 327/QD-TTg dated March 10, 2002, there are 4 main tasks.
The top priority is to focus on wood product groups with competitive advantages, added value, high demand, and stable markets (including main product groups of interior and exterior wooden furniture, artificial wood panels, fine art wooden products, and wood pellets and wood chips).
The consideration of developing the energy wood pellet production sector in the province's wood processing industry is consistent with the objectives, viewpoints and orientations of the project to increase the value of planted forest wood products through utilizing waste and by-products in the wood processing industry (agricultural and forestry processing) and gradually shifting wood chip factories to energy wood pellet production in the province. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to creating conditions for enterprises that have been approved by the province for investment policy to promptly implement the project.
