Opening the "door" to the OCOP market

BBK - Implementing the Project "One Commune One Product" (OCOP Program), Bac Kan province has implemented many policies to support producers of quality goods, improve competitiveness, connect markets, and promote products.

Policy support for subjects

Up to now, Bac Kan province has 245 OCOP products from 3-5 stars; including 4 OCOP 5-star products, 21 OCOP 4-star products and 220 OCOP 3-star products. To achieve that result, in recent times, Bac Kan province has paid attention to supporting OCOP product producers with many practical policies.

Enterprises and cooperatives participate in product promotion.

Thanh Tam Leaf Yeast Wine Cooperative, Bang Phuc Commune, Cho Don District, owns the Bang Phuc leaf yeast wine brand. Ms. Nong Thi Tam, Director of the Cooperative, shared: “In addition to its own capital, the Cooperative received about 2 billion VND from the province's policies to invest in building factories, designing labels, and building product quality assurance processes. Thanks to the application of strict production and quality control processes, the Cooperative's products have been selected by partner businesses for survey, inspection, and meeting quality requirements, successfully exported to the Japanese market.”


Grasping the market demand for increasingly high quality products, products that are not only delicious but also ensure food safety and traceability, so right from its establishment, Tai Hoan Cooperative has proactively participated in the OCOP Program. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoan, Director of the Cooperative shared: "In the past time, we have received active support from the province through programs and projects to improve production capacity and product quality". With continuous efforts, from 2021, the product "Tai Hoan vermicelli" has been recognized as a national 5-star OCOP product. The Cooperative has been continuously recognized as a typical rural industrial product at the provincial, regional and national levels.

Along with support for investment in infrastructure and production equipment, the province currently has 11 cooperatives supported to participate in 9 scientific projects/topics to standardize raw material areas for production of recognized OCOP products.

Expand market connections and product consumption

In recent times, Bac Kan province has paid attention to information and introduction of OCOP products through maintaining an electronic transaction information page; organizing trade promotion activities and events in domestic and foreign markets; supporting entities participating in e-commerce activities; and building infrastructure to introduce OCOP products.

Bac Kan province organizes many trade promotions inside and outside the province.

In addition to traditional promotion forms, trade promotion activities on digital platforms are actively implemented by the industry, organizations and enterprises in the province. The Department of Industry and Trade has supported the construction of sales websites, product marketing for enterprises and cooperatives in the province and brought OCOP products to participate in the international e-commerce trading floor https://www.alibaba.com; reputable domestic e-commerce floors...

Not only organizing and participating in e-commerce activities, the province also allocates funds to build display and introduction points for OCOP products. Currently, the province has 19 display and introduction points for products in districts and cities.

Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, Mr. Ha Sy Thang shared: “With the efforts to promote, connect, and organize e-commerce platforms to connect the consumption of local OCOP products, up to now, hundreds of local agricultural and OCOP products have been signed for consumption at supermarket systems nationwide. In addition, many products have been put on e-commerce platforms, expanding opportunities to reach customers. Organizing conferences to connect supply and demand, promote and consume agricultural products. Through that, we have connected and invited distributors, retailers in provinces, cities, and e-commerce platforms to participate in events and support the consumption of the province's products".


It can be affirmed that the development of production and the introduction of OCOP products of the province have received support from all levels and sectors in many aspects. In particular, through trade promotion activities, the awareness and actions of economic organizations have changed significantly, the goods produced ensure the regulations and required standards, meeting both quantity and quality according to market requirements. OCOP products of Bac Kan province are increasingly trusted and chosen by consumers and are present in most provinces and cities across the country and gradually approaching the export market./.
