As of May 2025, the province has 156 schools at the secondary education level; 47,081 junior high school students, of which 9,241 are in grade 9; 27,717 high school students, of which 8,810 are in grade 12. To raise awareness of vocational education and orientation of secondary school students, departments, branches, unions, and socio- political organizations in the province have focused on propaganda work on the role, position, and importance of vocational education and orientation of student orientation in general education.
Propaganda work is organized flexibly and diversely in both form and content. Along with that, the Departmentof Education and Training (DoET) has promptly issued documents guiding the work of vocational education and orientation of student streaming in general education.
Through the GDHN program (official) for students from grade 9 to grade 12 and in-depth counseling sessions to educate and orient students towards future careers. Propaganda work is also directed towards a large number of parents in activities, working sessions, and contacts between the school and parents to orient their thinking, helping parents better understand the work of career guidance and orientation according to current social trends.
At the same time, the content, methods and forms of vocational education in general schools are also focused on innovation. The Department of Education and Training has directed the Departments of Education and Training and affiliated general schools to innovate vocational education content through subjects and educational activities in schools.
Secondary education institutions have proactively integrated vocational education topics into general education programs with admissions counseling activities; proactively and creatively implemented vocational education programs in the direction of enhancing practical experience activities for students. Some localities have expanded new general occupations to suit students' needs.
For the final grade, high schools have proactively coordinated with vocational education and training centers and vocational training institutions in the area to provide counseling, help students orient their careers and choose a path for the future, contributing positively to the work of streaming, especially for students after graduating from junior high school. The drastic implementation of STEM education in secondary education from the 2020-2021 school year also contributes to career orientation for high school students.
Along with that, the education sector has mobilized domestic and foreign social resources to participate in vocational education, orienting the streaming of high school students. Specifically, the Department of Education and Training has coordinated with departments, branches, sectors, organizations in the province, universities and colleges nationwide to organize many seminars on career guidance and student streaming; invited experts to give lectures on entrepreneurship for high school students in the province; coordinated with vocational training institutions in and outside the province to organize annual counseling sessions on admission to intermediate, vocational colleges and universities for high school students in the province...
Along with that, the Department directs continuing education centers to organize vocational training in conjunction with continuing education at high school level. Some vocational education and continuing education centers closely coordinate with high schools in enrollment consulting activities, job fairs, focusing on final year students; diversify forms of consulting, thoroughly resolve questions, provide full and timely information on enrollment needed for students; cooperate with production facilities, factories, enterprises, industrial parks to train suitable occupations, ensure output for students to have stable jobs and income...
Vocational education and student streaming are no longer issues of the education and training sector alone, but are the “key” to solving the problem of labor supply and demand, minimizing waste of social resources and creating momentum for local socio-economic development. Positive changes in vocational education and student streaming in Quang Tri are opening new doors for students - future workers - to learn correctly, work correctly, and live according to their abilities and aspirations.
Based on the results achieved, in the coming time, the Education and Training sector will continue to raise awareness of vocational education and orient the streaming of high school students. At the same time, it will build and update the content and program of vocational education associated with local production and business activities.
Implement innovation in teaching methods of vocational education in general schools in the direction of enhancing experience, enhancing teaching through practice, applying knowledge into practice, through experience to shape future career directions based on one's own strengths.
At the same time, the sector also strengthens and completes facilities and teaching equipment associated with vocational education in general education. Continues to implement policies for students going to vocational training, providing financial support for ethnic minority students, poor students, policy-based students, and students who continue to study at vocational training institutions after graduating from secondary school.
Mobilize domestic and foreign social resources to participate in vocational education, orienting the streaming of high school students. Promote vocational education admissions counseling, orienting junior high and high school graduates to study at vocational education institutions. Closely coordinate between vocational education institutions and high schools in admissions counseling activities, job fairs, etc.
