According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the heat wave has weakened in both the North and Central regions, replaced by thunderstorms to cool down.
Today (June 5), in the Northern region, there will be moderate rain and thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain with rainfall of 20-50mm, in some places over 100mm.
For the Central region, rainfall in the area from Thanh Hoa to Thua Thien Hue is from 10-30mm, in some places over 50mm; from Da Nang to Binh Thuan is from 20-40mm, in some places over 60mm.
The Central Highlands and the South also have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally with moderate to heavy rain with rainfall of 20-40mm, in some places over 60mm.
In Hanoi area, today there will be showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain.
Rain in the above areas mainly concentrates in the evening and at night. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Moderate to heavy rain in some areas can easily cause flooding in low-lying areas.
According to the meteorological agency, thunderstorms in the Northern, Central Highlands and Southern regions are likely to last for many days to come.
