In the period of 2021-2025, the movement of farmers competing in production and business, uniting to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty in some communes of Quang Ngai province (new), continued to develop extensively, attracting tens of thousands of farmer households to participate.
With dynamism, creativity, daring to think and dare to do, many people escape poverty and become rich legitimately.
GET RICH IN HOMELAND
The movement of farmers competing in production and good business has been widely implemented and has great influence. The highlight of the movement in the period of 2021-2025 is the innovation in thinking and working methods of farmers from small-scale, fragmented production to developing commodity production, applying science and technology, shifting the structure of crops and livestock appropriately, bringing high economic value.
Mr. Tran Van Thuan's household, belonging to the Farmers' Association of Residential Group 6, Dak Ha Commune, has a total area of about 35 hectares for growing various crops, a barn area of about 1,000 square meters, a pond area of about 1 hectare, and a total herd of about 3,000 poultry. Every year, his family guarantees about 50 tons of fertilizer to the fertilizer company and about 100 tons of various types of feed to the animal and aquatic feed company to help the association members invest in coffee, rice, vegetable production, and develop livestock farming... The five members of his family work hard, each year earning an income (after deducting expenses) of 1.2 billion VND. Not only has this farmer risen to become rich, he has also created regular jobs for two poor households with an average income of 5 million VND/person/month; seasonal work for about 200 workers/year, each worker earning at least 300,000 VND/day. In addition, Mr. Thuan also actively does charity work, helping families in difficult circumstances when they are sick, ill with gifts, cash... Another example is Mr. Nguyen Van Quyet, Director of Nhan Hoa Kon Dao Macadamia Cooperative. With an area of 8.5 hectares of macadamia trees and 1 hectare of coffee, each year Mr. Quyet's family has a revenue of 1.7 billion VND. Not only is he good at economics, Mr. Quyet is also an inspiration, instructing techniques and production experience for hundreds of farmer members in and outside the province. Similarly, Mr. Bui Duc Quynh's family in Ro Koi commune, with 10 hectares of durian, earns 3 billion VND/year... Such models not only change the economic face of households but also spread the spirit of getting rich to many other farmers.
The movement of good production and business not only stops at increasing farmers' income but also contributes to restructuring agricultural production, building new rural areas and strengthening farmers' associations at all levels. In the past 5 years, from the movement of good production and business, many cooperative economic models, cooperative groups, and professional associations have been formed; making practical contributions to the program of building new rural areas. Members and farmers voluntarily donated more than 86,000 m2 of land, contributed more than 15 billion VND and more than 206,000 working days to build roads, canals, and cultural houses, contributing to the completion of rural infrastructure.
The development of household economy contributes to strengthening the great national unity, maintaining political security and social order and safety. Good production and business households not only help each other with capital, seeds, and techniques but also support each other in life, promoting the spirit of mutual love.
PROMOTING THE ROLE OF FARMERS' ASSOCIATION
To realize the goal of increasing the number of households achieving the title of good production and business by 15-20% and reducing the poverty rate by an average of 3-4%/year, the Farmers' Associations of Dak Ha, Kon Dao, Mo Rai communes... have proposed many specific tasks and solutions such as strengthening propaganda and mobilizing farmers, especially ethnic minorities, to change their thinking and working methods, proactively striving to escape poverty sustainably. The Farmers' Associations of the communes have strengthened coordination with departments, branches, enterprises, and scientists to organize training courses, build demonstration models, organic production models, and digital production models; establish good production and business clubs, professional association branches, cooperatives, and cooperative groups; effectively implement the "6 houses" linkage program (farmers-state-scientists-enterprises-banks-distributors).
The movement of farmers competing in production and good business not only brings economic efficiency but also contributes to enhancing the position and role of the Farmers' Association in the political system. The Associations at all levels become a solid bridge between the Party, the State and farmers, and are the core force in building new rural areas, developing the socio-economy and protecting national defense and security. Some good production and business farming households represent producers to discuss, negotiate and sign economic contracts with enterprises to create large production areas; promote the strengths of each locality, and gradually build agricultural product brands. Thereby, applying advanced science and technology in a synchronous and effective manner, narrowing the gap in productivity and product quality between farming households, creating a foundation for production to meet VietGAP standards and building a production model in the direction of linking the value chain from production to product consumption.
