At noon on July 7, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong directly inspected the progress of the XL1 package, the section connecting Nhon Trach bridge with Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway, part of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project.

Package XL1 is over 2.7km long, passing through Thu Duc, with a total investment of over VND 2,100 billion. It has now reached 53.7% of its output, the highest among the group of 6 packages starting construction in phase 2.

The Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board) said that to ensure the progress of traffic opening during the holiday, the units are focusing on completing some items in advance. The concrete of Branch Bridge A has been completed.

Branch roads D and E and the main route, about 400m long, have completed 50% of the crushed stone grading, which is the first part of the entire project to construct this item. The main route is expected to be paved with asphalt concrete before August 15.

The temporary road is about 200m long, 10-11m wide, with a grade 1 gravel surface, and will allow two-way traffic. From Dong Nai , cross Nhon Trach bridge, go about 900m, then turn right along the temporary road to enter the toll station area, and enter the highway. The opposite direction is organized similarly.

Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong said: "The contractor has made efforts in the past time with the plan, requesting to open Nhon Trach bridge on August 19, phase 1, and complete the connection on September 30, need to speed up as much as possible, exceeds the construction progress. Through inspection, the current status of the construction site basically meets the requirements.

Currently, all difficulties and obstacles of the Ring Road 3 project have been resolved. What remains mainly depends on the investor's management capacity and the contractor's construction progress. How to ensure that by December 31, 2025, 15km of the overpass on the Thu Duc side will be completed and opened to traffic.

Nhon Trach Bridge "lies in wait" if the intersection with the highway is not completed

Previously, Tuoi Tre Online reported that Nhon Trach Bridge is ahead of schedule and expected to be completed in August 2025, but the possibility of exploitation is still open. The reason is that the intersection connecting to Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway under the XL1 package (invested by the City Transport Department) is not yet completed.

In order for Nhon Trach Bridge to be operational on time, a part of the interchange must be completed synchronously. Although Ho Chi Minh City had requested that some items be opened to traffic in April, then postponed to June, the plan has now been pushed back to the end of September.

The main cause is bad weather and prolonged rain. The Traffic Department said it has mobilized 9 construction teams and nearly 30 pieces of equipment to speed up the remaining work.
