Artist Bao Ly said that these are just a few of about a thousand artifacts that he has collected over the past 30 years. “I was born and raised in Hoi An, one of the cultural and artistic cradles of Quang Nam, so I am attached to the values of these artifacts. From love to infatuation, I am determined to collect these artifacts, because they are not only memories of a past time but also preservation for future generations” – artist Bao Ly shared.

Notably, among the artifacts displayed at Kim Bong Countryside Market are two 35mm film discs (widescreen cinema) that the artist revealed were kept as souvenirs by his grandfather - one of the builders of Phi Anh Hoi An cinema in 1957.
In addition, viewers and visitors can also admire quite unique artifacts such as two bicycles from the 50s and 60s of the last century still with accessories such as horns, bells, conical hats, leather bags hanging on the back or two mobylettes nearly 70 years old... all are solemnly displayed as proud evidence of a time of luxury and wealth.
[VIDEO] - Artist Bao Ly shares about participating in the exhibition of artifacts at Kim Bong Countryside Market:
According to artist Bao Ly, without passion, knowledge and financial resources, it is difficult to pursue the hobby of collecting. In 2003, the artist bought a mobylette for 12 million VND, while the price of a 200m² plot of land in Tan An ward was only over 14 million VND. "I want to display the artifacts in the Kim Bong Countryside Market space to create a nostalgic memory, and at the same time introduce the life and culture of Hoi An people in a bygone era" - artist Bao Ly said.

Painter Bao Ly said that in his collection of artifacts, in addition to antique cars, machinery and equipment, the most prominent is his collection of ceramic artifacts, numbering more than 300 units, mainly Japanese ceramics for the upper and middle classes. In particular, some rare Chinese porcelain vases dating back to the 18th century were also collected and preserved by the artist.
