Accordingly, the total area of illegally exploited forest is more than 3 hectares, of which protective forest is more than 2.5 hectares and production forest is more than 0.5 hectares.
Currently, Hue City People's Committee has directed the police to investigate and handle violations according to the law.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Hue City shall preside over and coordinate with relevant units to continue collecting and consolidating records to strictly handle violations according to the law. At the same time, consider the responsibilities of relevant organizations and individuals, especially in the process of performing forest management and protection tasks, before July 22.


Previously, on July 2, the Forest Protection Department of the Northern Region of Hue City, while patrolling to protect the forest, discovered a large area of acacia trees in the coastal protection forest in An Loc village (Phong Quang ward, Hue city) had been cut down.
At the scene, many acacia trees with diameters from 6 - 30cm were sawed off close to the base.
The area of forest that was cut down is located next to the resettlement area of An Loc village. This is also where coastal erosion often occurred in the past.
According to statistics from the Hue City Forest Protection Department, more than 2.5 hectares of coastal protection forest with 1,461 trees were cut down and marked for investigation.

Mr. Le Ngoc Tuan, Head of the Hue City Forest Protection Department, said that the forest rangers are investigating information about the buyer, seller, and transporter of the aforementioned sickle-shaped acacia out of the protected forest.
