Ms. Nguyen Thi Da is a single policy case, with especially difficult circumstances. Her only child passed away due to the effects of Agent Orange/Dioxin , and her husband also passed away due to a serious illness more than 10 years ago. The current house was built more than 20 years ago and has seriously degraded. After a site survey, the People's Committee of Chau Thoi Commune decided to support the reconstruction of a new house for Ms. Da.

In addition to the 70 million VND support fund as prescribed, the locality also mobilized an additional 15 million VND to upgrade the house foundation, because the old foundation was about 30cm lower than the road surface, not ensuring living conditions. This additional fund is to share the difficulties with Ms. Da, when she is unable to cover the additional costs.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Da (sitting 3rd from right) expressed her emotion and thanked the commune officials for their concern in building a new house for her.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Truong Ngoc Thao, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Commune People's Council, emphasized: The groundbreaking ceremony to build a house for Ms. Nguyen Thi Da is not only a practical action to support people with revolutionary contributions, but also a project of profound humanitarian significance on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025).

Currently, Chau Thoi commune is building 22 new houses (each house supported by 70 million VND) and repairing 100 houses (each house supported by 35 million VND) for policy beneficiaries, relatives of martyrs and meritorious people in the area.

The Commune Party Committee has also assigned cadres to closely monitor progress and regularly urge to ensure that the projects are completed on schedule, contributing to stabilizing the lives of households and spreading the spirit of "remembering the source of drinking water" deeply in the community.
