Oilstainlab HF-11 - supercar created by "crazy people"

American supercar startup Oilstainlab has made a splash with its HF-11 hypercar, which is inspired by the Porsche 911 in its front end and limited to 25 units.

Oilstainlab was founded in 2019 by twin brothers Nikita and Iliya Bridan, designers and engineers who have worked with major brands such as Genesis, Cadillac, Toyota and Honda. The brothers' idea was to create a racing supercar that Porsche might make in a parallel universe where the company only produced one car, the 911.

So since 2019 they have created the Half-11 - a "custom" car with the front half taken from the classic Porsche 911 but the other half based on the supercar chassis design, with a mid-mounted Chevrolet LS V8 engine.

The car received positive reviews from both potential customers and the car enthusiast community, leading the Bridan brothers to continue developing it into a commercial version called the HF-11.

“We have been building our company in secret for the past four years. A globally selected team. Crazy people chosen for their unwavering passion, previous achievements in the industry and bold vision,” said Nikita Bridan.

“They were attracted to Oilstainlab, and we were attracted to them,” says Nikita Bridan. “Now that the project is public, we are excited to recruit our crazy family globally and can’t wait to start testing with our dedicated team and customers.”

Oilstainlab plans to build 25 HF-11s. The standard model will cost around $1.85 million, but those who want both an internal combustion engine and an electric one will have to shell out $2.3 million. Oilstainlab names the Porsche Carrera GT, Sauber C9, and Gordon Murray T.50 as competitors for the HF-11.

So it's no surprise that the company is working on some very interesting powertrains for the HF-11. Those who want an internal combustion engine will have the choice of a 4.6-liter horizontally opposed six-cylinder or a larger 5.0-liter, both of which are mounted in the middle, right behind the carbon fiber monocoque structure.

The 4.6-liter model will produce 600 horsepower, which is a lot considering the car weighs just 910kg. But 600 horsepower is nothing compared to the power of the 5.0-liter model.
9-6503.jpg
According to the company, it will have a whopping 1,200 horsepower, presumably achieved through a pair of turbochargers and a redline of up to 12,000rpm. The engines will be hooked up to a rear-wheel-drive system via a six-speed manual or seven-speed sequential gearbox.

Oilstainlab is also developing an all-electric version with 850 horsepower (633kW). But perhaps the craziest part about the powertrain is the option for buyers willing to spend $2.3 million.

Otherwise, customers will get either a petrol or electric powertrain. As Nikita Bridan explains: “It’s not really an engine swap; it’s a complete rear-frame swap.”
10-7072.jpg
According to Oilstainlab, the internal combustion engine will not be based on Porsche's roots, despite the automaker's signature horizontal six-cylinder shape. But Porsche inspiration is clearly present in the 911-style front half, as well as the car's minimalist seats and dashboard layout. The rear end is stripped down, exposing the HF-11's exhaust system and suspension.

At this stage, the company is focused on finding the right buyers for these unique machines. Their plan involves selecting 11 new owners, who will also serve as testers. Oilstainlab calls these select few “crazy people.”
14.jpg
“Our goal right now is to find 11 crazy people who will be part of our development program,” Nikita says. “We have six people who we’re pretty sure want to be part of. And then we hope that, after the car is shown, we’ll be able to find the other five.” He pauses.
