The Super-scale Data Center project at Ho Chi Minh City Hi-Tech Park invested by CMC Technology Group is a strategic step in the roadmap to build infrastructure to serve the development of artificial intelligence and core technology in Vietnam.

At the end of June 2025, the Management Board of Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park (SHTP) announced the Decision to approve CMC Technology Group as the investor to implement the Super-scale Data Center Project worth more than 250 million USD at SHTP.

The project is located in the Eastern region - considered the technological gateway of Ho Chi Minh City, and is identified as the starting point for a data infrastructure serving AI transformation and a global expansion strategy.

This center is designed as the “heart” of storing - computing - analyzing huge data, providing AI-as-a-Service, cloud computing infrastructure, big data analysis and network security for millions of users.

The center synchronizes next-generation network technologies such as XGS-PON, SD-WAN, SASE, and 800G DWDM optical transmission system to ensure large, stable and secure bandwidth connections.

Applying digital simulation technology (Digital Twin) will help monitor real-time operations and optimize system performance. Along with that, renewable energy solutions are prioritized for deployment, aiming at green data center standards (Green DC), contributing to saving energy and protecting the environment.

With an initial design capacity of 30 MW, the project is planned to expand to 120 MW, meeting the growing computing needs of digital economy and AI applications.

CMC positions this project as the "heart" infrastructure platform to operate two assigned national digital transformation tasks: developing a pure Vietnamese cloud platform (CMC Cloud) and the open ecosystem C.OpenAI - Vietnam's core AI system.

Accordingly, the C.OpenAI ecosystem includes 25 core technologies self-developed by CMC, including image recognition (Computer Vision), large language model (LLM), voice processing (Voice Processing) and modern data management (Datalakehouse).

Some AI products have been applied in practice such as: C.Face - a facial recognition solution ranked high in the testing table of the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST); C.OCR (SmartDocs) - a text recognition tool from images being deployed at Vietnam Social Security and TH Group; CLS - AI Legal Assistant being tested at the Office of the National Assembly and the Ministry of Justice; along with AI Camera and AI Box devices used in the fields of defense, security and urban areas.

At the end of June 2025, the CATI-VLM model developed by CMC Technology Application Research Institute (CMC ATI) entered the world's Top 12 and ranked first in Vietnam in the DocVQA rankings at the international computer vision competition Robust Reading Competition (RRC) 2025 - an event that brings together many of the world's leading technologies.

The Hyperscale DC SHTP project is also identified as being closely linked to the national mission, as CMC accompanies Ho Chi Minh City and the Vietnam Center for Industrial Revolution 4.0 (C4IR Vietnam) to develop the country's first AI city model.

Ho Chi Minh City, as a leader in digital economic development, places its hopes on this data center as an infrastructure foundation to attract domestic and international research and development (R&D) centers, technology enterprises, startups, and technology investment funds.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh - Chairman of the Board of Directors, Executive Chairman of CMC Corporation - believes that Hyperscale Data Center SHTP will play a role as core infrastructure serving digital transformation, AI development and supporting Vietnamese enterprises to access modern computing resources right in the country.

At the same time, this is also a specific action in response to Resolution 57 on science - technology - innovation and national digital transformation, and Resolution 68 on promoting the role of the private economy.

With its scale, technology and operational orientation, the Hyperscale Data Center project in Ho Chi Minh City not only adds a strategic link in the national digital infrastructure, but also expands opportunities to connect Vietnam with regional and global data networks./.
