General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, along with many leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, international friends and tens of thousands of people were present at Ba Dinh Square to attend the celebration. On the streets, tens of thousands of people were present on both sides of the road with flags and flowers to witness the parade and march to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day.
The 80th National Day celebration on September 2nd began with the torch-carrying ceremony and the lighting of the traditional revolutionary torch. The traditional revolutionary torch was lit from the Ho Chi Minh Museum.

At around 7:00 a.m., General Secretary To Lam delivered a commemorative speech. In his speech, the General Secretary affirmed: Looking to the future, our Party sets a goal that by 2045, the 100th anniversary of the founding of the country, Vietnam will be a powerful, prosperous, and happy nation. That is the aspiration of the entire nation, an oath of honor before history and before the people.

Opening the parade were the formations of the Vietnam People's Air Force. Leading the way were the Mi-171, Mi-17, and Mi-8 helicopter formations, carrying the Party and national flags flying over the historic Ba Dinh Square. Next came the formation of Casa C-295 and C212i transport aircraft, considered "silent warriors", responsible for coordinating combat, reconnaissance, transportation, and search and rescue.

At the same time, at Cam Ranh military base, Khanh Hoa province, there was a formation of forces participating in the sea parade. The forces in the sea parade included: command ships; maritime patrol aircraft, anti-submarine helicopters; submarine squadrons, missile frigates, anti-submarine frigates, fast attack missile boats, and gunboats of the Vietnam People's Navy; squadrons of ships of the Vietnam Coast Guard; Border Guards and Standing Militia Squadrons, along with many other modern means and equipment.

Next is the ceremonial block consisting of 4 blocks, led by a model car bearing the National Emblem of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. Following are the Party flag block, the national flag; the procession of cars carrying the portrait of President Ho Chi Minh and the model car symbolizing the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, September 2.

Next were 26 military units, led by 5 Command vehicles, the Army Flag Group vehicle commanded by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Hong Thai, Deputy Minister of National Defense, leading the units representing the heroic Vietnam People's Army and the Militia and Self-Defense Forces entering the ceremony platform.
