Hue has 2 more national intangible heritages

On the afternoon of July 5, the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City announced that the new rice festival (Bhuôih Haro Tơme) of the Co Tu people and "Folk knowledge of Bun bo Hue" of Hue City were officially recognized as national intangible cultural heritage.

The New Rice Festival (Bhuôih Haro Tơme) is recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage under the category of traditional festivals, social customs and beliefs. The New Rice Festival is a typical agricultural ritual, reflecting the close relationship between humans - nature - gods in the cultural life of the Co Tu ethnic group.

The new rice festival of the Co Tu ethnic minority community has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage.

Taking place after each harvest season, the festival is meant to thank the gods, especially the rice god Giang Haro, for giving the village a bountiful harvest, a peaceful and prosperous life. The new rice festival is a unique cultural heritage of the Co Tu ethnic minority community in Nam Dong - a land rich in tradition, playing an important role in the cultural identity of the mountainous region in Hue City. This is also an opportunity for the Co Tu community to gather, have fun and strengthen solidarity.

Regarding the heritage “Folk knowledge of Hue beef noodle soup” which is listed in the national intangible cultural heritage, it belongs to the category of folk knowledge. Hue beef noodle soup is not only a famous dish both nationally and internationally, but also the crystallization of hundreds of years of folk knowledge passed down through many generations.

Closely associated with religious life, community activities and traditional craft villages such as Van Cu and O Sa vermicelli villages; this dish deeply reflects the soul, lifestyle and culinary culture of Hue people. In 2016, Hue beef vermicelli was listed by the Asian Record Organization in the Top 100 dishes of Asian value.

The recognition of Hue beef noodle as a heritage not only affirms the value of Hue's culinary culture but also creates a legal foundation and an important driving force for Hue City to continue to promote the conservation, promotion and development of heritage values ​​in the cultural industry development strategy, contributing to the development of tourism, local economy and culture. This is also a meaningful stepping stone in the roadmap to turn Hue into a UNESCO creative city in the culinary field.
