Propaganda to people about using electricity economics in the summer |
People are worried
Receiving the electricity bill for June, Mr. Nguyen Minh Trung, Thuan Hoa ward (1) was quite surprised to see that the consumption output for the month was 1,768 kWh, the payment fee was more than 6.2 million VND. Meanwhile, the average monthly electricity bill before that, Mr. Trung's family only fluctuated between 3.5-4 million VND.
"The family only has a husband, wife and two children. The use of appliances is the same as previous months, such as cooking rice, water, using the refrigerator and only turning on two air conditioners when the weather is hot for guests to drink coffee... but I don't understand why the electricity bill in June increased so much" - Mr. Trung said.
Similarly, Ms. Ho Thi Hong, Thuy Xuan ward (2) also said that she had just paid her June bill of more than 2.8 million VND, an increase of nearly 1 million VND compared to last May. According to Ms. Hong, last June, there were many rainy and cool days, so the house rarely used air conditioning and used a water heater for bathing. She and her family were often away from home but the electricity bill still skyrocketed.
Not only the cases we mentioned above, but currently many households using electricity in Hue City have also expressed concerns about the electricity bill in June being higher than usual. On forums on social networks, many accounts commented that the electricity bill had doubled even though the weather was not very hot, and there were even many rainy and cool days in June.
Should regularly check power output
In response to many people in Hue City reporting that their electricity bills in June had increased drastically compared to normal, Mr. Nguyen Dai Phuc, Director of Hue Electricity Company (PC Hue), said that last June, the average daily electricity output in the whole area reached more than 7.4 million kWh, an increase of 4.75% over the same period in 2024. The total output in June reached 223.1 million kWh, of which the peak was recorded on June 2 with 8,075 million kWh - the highest ever.
The group of electricity customers belonging to the residential consumption load component alone accounts for 42.25% of total electricity output, an increase of 13.4% compared to May 2025.
The above figures clearly reflect the direct impact of weather temperature on the behavior and demand for electricity in households. Notably, the number of customers using electricity level 6 increased compared to May by 16,987 customers, accounting for 16.98% of the total number of household customers. The electricity consumption of this group alone increased by 40.36% compared to May and used up to 41.37% of the total household electricity output in June.
Especially during the summer vacation of students, which coincides with the peak of the hot weather, the time of using air conditioners and cooling electrical equipment is longer during the day. When the temperature increases, it not only increases the frequency of electricity use but also causes cooling equipment to consume more energy to maintain operating efficiency. The large temperature difference between indoors and outdoors, the air conditioner must operate continuously, rarely turns off, leading to increased electricity consumption even though the usage time remains unchanged.
The adjustment of retail electricity prices according to Decision 1279/QD-BCT of the Ministry of Industry and Trade from May 10, 2025 with an increase of 4.8% in all household electricity price levels is also a factor that makes the electricity cost of households in June higher than before.
Faced with this situation, PC Hue recommends that customers proactively monitor their family's daily electricity consumption through the Central Power's customer care ecosystem (EVNCPC CSKH App).
, customers should regularly check their electricity output, set warning thresholds when exceeding normal consumption levels to promptly adjust their electricity usage behavior. “During the hot season, people should use air conditioners at a reasonable temperature (from 26-28°C), combined with fans, turn off devices when not needed and limit the use of many high-capacity devices at the same time during peak hours from 12:00 to 15:00 and from 22:00 to 24:00 every day. Furthermore, customers can learn about and invest in rooftop solar power systems in the form of self-production and self-consumption, suitable for their electricity usage needs, to reduce electricity consumption" - PC Hue leaders recommended.
