Gold price is hot today

At around 6:00 a.m. on June 18 (Vietnam time), the world spot gold price reached 3,394 USD/ounce, up 26 USD compared to the lowest level of the session.

This development was driven by investor caution amid geopolitical instability, especially tensions in the Middle East.

US President Donald Trump has left the G7 summit in Canada early to focus on managing the US response to the Israel-Iran conflict.

In social media posts, Mr. Trump took a tough stance on Iran, calling on the country to sign a deal and warning Tehran residents to evacuate immediately.

These statements have increased uncertainty, pushing up demand for safe-haven assets like gold.

Meanwhile, the US dollar rose slightly, crude oil futures traded around $73.75/barrel, and the 10-year US bond yield reached around 4.4%. These factors continued to put pressure on gold prices today, but the attractiveness of this precious metal remained undiminished.

According to a survey by the World Gold Council, global central banks are maintaining a bullish sentiment on gold. "Nearly half of the global central banks surveyed see value in gold as a reserve asset," Shaokai Fan, head of global central banks at the World Gold Council, told Kitco News.

Central banks have bought more than 3,000 tonnes of gold in the past three years and could add another 1,000 tonnes to their reserves this year, analysts say, a trend that underscores gold’s continued role as a strategic asset amid economic and geopolitical uncertainty.

In Vietnam, by the end of June 17, the listed price of SJC gold was 119.6 million VND/tael (selling price), and the price of gold rings was 116.2 million VND/tael.
