According to Gazprom's announcement, on January 12, 1,788.3 million cubic meters of gas were supplied to Russian consumers, a historical record for daily supplies through the Unified Gas Supply System.

The level recorded nearly 10 years ago on January 30, 2014 was 1,786.8 million m3 of gas.

Gazprom said the increase in gas consumption was due to widespread freezing weather in Russia. The average air temperature in the area covered by the Unified Gas Supply System dropped to minus 14 degrees Celsius on January 12.

"Supplies through Gazprom's gas transportation system are carried out reliably, including thanks to underground gas storage facilities," the corporation stressed.

Earlier, on her Telegram channel, Lipetsk Mayor Evgenia Uvarkina informed that a new breakdown in the heating network in the city left 40 apartment buildings without hot water and heating.

According to Russian Finance Ministry data, taxes on oil and gas in 2023 fell 24% compared to the previous year, although they still accounted for nearly a third of total budget revenues in 2023.

Russia's Finance Ministry data showed the fiscal deficit reached 3.2 trillion rubles ($36.1 billion), equivalent to 1.9 percent of gross domestic product (GDP). The deficit increased amid spending exceeding forecasts by 11 percent.

“The average price of the main export crude Urals has fallen by more than 17% in 2023, to $62.99 a barrel. This is still higher than the $60 a barrel ceiling imposed by the Group of Seven ( G7 ) and its allies at the end of 2022 to limit Russia’s revenues,” the Russian Finance Ministry said.
