On July 8, Hanoi University of Science and Technology released official information about the group of candidates admitted directly to the school.

Accordingly, 9 students who won prizes at international Olympic competitions and 371 students who won third prize or higher in national excellent student competitions were admitted directly to the school.

It is known that the number of candidates with national and international awards and international certificates applying for admission to Hanoi University of Science and Technology this year has nearly doubled compared to last year.

With international certificates, many students have high results such as SAT score 1600/1600 with IELTS 8.0, AP 15/15 and IELTS 8.5. Some students achieved A-Level 30/30 with IELTS 7.5.

According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training , candidates who win third prize or higher in national competitions for excellent students and science and technology; participate in international and regional Olympic team selection exams, and international science and technology exams; will be considered for direct admission. Students can register up to 3 wishes that match the subjects they have competed in and won prizes.

Previously, sharing with Dan Tri reporter, Associate Professor Dr. Vu Duy Hai - Head of Admissions and Career Guidance Department, Hanoi University of Science and Technology - said that this year the number of candidates registering for admission with international certificates has increased sharply, because more and more students have these certificates.

Looking at the international situation, it can be seen that the fluctuations in the study abroad environment in the US - a world power in the field of highereducation - are having a significant impact on the study decisions of talented students.

Studying at university level requires a stable academic environment to help students have a stable mentality. Only then can students achieve the best results in the learning and research process that lasts for many years.

In the context of the volatile world situation, studying at the top prestigious universities in the country is becoming a popular trend among "elite" students in many countries today.

This year, Hanoi University of Science and Technology plans to enroll 9,680 students through the following methods: talent selection, thinking assessment test scores, and high school graduation exam scores.

According to Mr. Vu Duy Hai, this year, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has received about 5,000 applications for talent recruitment.

In the process of selecting talented students, the school not only directly recruits them according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, but also evaluates candidates based on the international certificates they already have, evaluates their capacity profiles and directly interviews candidates.

Specifically, nearly 400 students who won national and international prizes and are eligible for direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training have registered for admission to the school.

About 1,600 students are considered for talent based on international certificates they have obtained such as SAT, ACT, A-Level, AP or IB.

About 3,000 students registered for admission using their application documents combined with interviews. Mr. Vu Duy Hai said the interview does not test academic knowledge, but rather presentation skills and social understanding. This part is a conditional factor in the admission process.

Candidates only need to score 10/20 points in the interview to meet the criteria. This score is not counted in the general admission score along with academic performance and achievement scores as in previous years.

According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, Hanoi University of Science and Technology will convert the admission scores between the above methods. The talent admission score (calculated on a 100-point scale) will be converted to the same scale as the thinking assessment test score and high school graduation exam score, so that the school can consider admission from high to low.
