Nearly 200 soldiers from ASEAN countries paraded through the streets of Hanoi.

On the evening of December 19, at Thang Long Imperial Citadel (Hanoi), the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense organized the 2024 Military Music Exchange Program with the theme "Music connects friendship".

The 2024 Military Music Exchange Program is held on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day, at the historical and cultural relic space of Thang Long Imperial Citadel - Hanoi .

Aiming to introduce the country, people and the Vietnam People's Army to international friends, the program also contributes to strengthening cooperation between armies of countries in the region, in the spirit of equality, solidarity and mutual understanding.

Attending the event were Deputy Ministers of National Defense, General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army; Senior Lieutenant General Vo Minh Luong and Senior Lieutenant General Vu Hai San; Deputy Chiefs of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia and Lieutenant General Pham Truong Son.

Attending the event were leaders of central and Hanoi departments, ministries and branches. International delegates included Ambassadors, Chargé d'Affaires, and Defense Attachés of embassies of several countries in Vietnam.

Participating in the program, Vietnam has 6 groups including the Army Ceremonial Band; Navy Band; Air Defense-Air Force Band; Military Bands of military regions and corps; People's Public Security Ceremonial Band;

Military bands of the Royal Cambodian Army, Chinese People's Liberation Army, Lao People's Army, Malaysian Army, Myanmar Army.

The program opened with a special concert featuring 180 musicians from other countries and Vietnam, under the direction of Meritorious Artist Pham Tuan Long, conductor of the Vietnam Military Band.

The musical works: Dien Bien Victory, March to Saigon, Victory March, As if Uncle Ho were here on the great victory day... were performed impressively by 180 musicians, and were cheered on by the audience with enthusiastic applause.

Speaking at the program, Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, emphasized that the 2024 Military Music Exchange is an artistic playground, an opportunity to strengthen solidarity and friendship between armed forces of countries, between countries in the region and around the world.

The music and performances of military bands from various countries are messages of love for peace, cooperation and sustainable development; they are the thread connecting the hearts of soldiers, who always aspire to build a peaceful and prosperous world; they contribute to further strengthening the solidarity, friendship and cooperation in the cultural field between the Vietnam People's Army and the armies of other countries in the region and the world.

This is also an opportunity for delegates to visit and learn more about the country, people and traditions of the heroic Vietnam People's Army.

The 2024 Military Band Exchange will feature military bands from five countries: Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, China and host Vietnam. This is an opportunity for military bands to exchange, learn, and strengthen friendship between countries in the region.

After that, each country's military band performed and the special thing was that, after performing at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the military bands of the countries marched through Nguyen Tri Phuong, Dien Bien Phu, and Doc Lap streets to serve the people and tourists. The Vietnam People's Army Military Band stopped performing in front of the people right at the area of Uncle Ho's Mausoleum.
