The Vietnam - UK Football Festival, taking place in Da Nang from June 26 to 28, attracted great attention from fans with a series of exciting activities. Highlights included meetings and autograph sessions with Manchester United legends, as well as exhibition matches between MU stars and Vietnamese players, held on June 26 and 27.
However, the Fan Zone event for fans to take photos and sign autographs freely on the afternoon of June 28 took place without the presence of the two most beloved and anticipated legends among the seven faces coming to Vietnam, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. At the time of the event, the organizers announced that the two English legends had returned home.
Mr. On Que Quan Dong (HCMC) said: "I am a loyal fan of Man United. I came to the event on the 26th and bought a ticket to participate in the activities of the event. Today is the Fan Zone meeting the legends from 1999 such as Michael Owen, Teddy Sheringham, Dwight Yorke, Dion Dublin but the most regrettable incident is the unexpected absence of Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs - two legends that Vietnamese fans are eagerly waiting for, wanting to meet their idols associated with the two great treble milestones of 1999 and 2008.
However, Mr. Dong also acknowledged the efforts of the organizing committee: "The organizing committee also took measures to please the fans and got the signatures of some players on the shirts of the Premier League champions during their peak period."
Mr. Vo Thanh Dinh (HCMC), another die-hard Man United fan, shared similar feelings: "It's not exactly disappointing, but it's a bit regretful. I was lucky to have followed closely and gotten Scholes' signature, but unfortunately, Giggs was still missing to make it more complete."
Within the framework of the festival, the most anticipated match between former stars - living legends of Manchester United (Manchester Reds) including: Michael Owen, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs, Teddy Sheringham, Wes Brown and Dwight Yorke and the youth team players took place.
Van Quyet faces Ryan Giggs in the match on the evening of June 27
Their opponents are Vietnam All Stars including outstanding players such as Hai Long, Tuan Hai, Van Quyet and Vietnamese football legends, Huynh Duc, Minh Phuong, Cong Vinh... taking place on the evening of June 27 at Hoa Xuan Stadium.
As a result, the team of famous Man United players won against the Vietnamese representative with a score of 4-2. Vietnam's goals were scored by Huynh Duc and Viet Thang, along with a double from Owen and goals from Lokyer and Borders to close out an exciting match night.
