Man United fans don't be delusional

The transfer market situation has turned 180 degrees for Man United. That's because they suddenly became the team that spent the most money this summer.

"Red Devils" fans may be surprised. But it is their home team, not giants like Man City, Liverpool, Real Madrid, PSG... that is the team that actually spends the most on the current transfer market.

Man United spend the most

It is necessary to distinguish between "spending" and "actual spending". If only considering spending, Liverpool is leading English football, even Europe, in this summer transfer period. Specifically, the "Red Brigade" spent 324 million euros to buy players, significantly higher than the next team, Arsenal (224 million euros). But on the other hand, Liverpool also earned nearly 200 million euros from the selling side. Thus, Liverpool's actual spending is only about 125 million euros.

The Reds have spent even less than Arsenal, who have only collected 8 million euros from player sales. But United have sold players even worse than Arsenal, having not collected any money in the summer transfer market. And so, the Red Devils are the team that has spent the most in the transfer market this year, with 230 million euros, after buying Cunha, Mbeumo and Sesko.

Man United is even considering buying Baleba - who is being priced at hundreds of millions by Brighton. If this contract is completed, the amount of money Man United will spend on transfers this summer will not be less than 300 million euros. This figure could surpass the team's previous transfer records.

Why did Man United buy so many players? That's obvious. A team with the most tradition in the league just had a very bad season, falling to 15th place, so it needs to buy new players to dream of revival. That's not to mention the needs of coach Ruben Amorim - who uses a different tactic compared to the rest of the league with a 3-4-3 formation.

The "red devils" corner

The problem is that Man United are on the brink of financial crisis. This is inevitable when they have lost hundreds of millions of euros in two consecutive years because they did not participate in the Champions League, and at the same time, they have plummeted in the Premier League.

However, with its huge assets, its glorious tradition, and the wallet of Jim Ratcliffe - one of the richest billionaires in England, Man United has not collapsed yet. But the risky transfer policy of the team's leadership this summer has pushed coach Ruben Amorim and his team into a corner.

Man United is forced to liquidate Hojlund, Sancho, Garnacho and Antony - a quartet of players with a total value of nearly 150 million euros on the transfer market. If the above amount is collected, the "Red Devils" will be considered to have had a successful transfer period. Otherwise, Man United will fall into a corner.

That is what Barca faced during the second term of President Joan Laporta. Despite the debt, the Camp Nou team still invested heavily, with a big risk of bankruptcy if they did not reap success. Luckily for Barca, they always had the La Masia training ground to look forward to the emergence of talent. From La Masia, the Camp Nou team had Yamal, Gavi, Cubarsi, Balde... and they revived.

But for Man United, who has their Carrington training ground produced that can compare to Yamal in the past decade? Rashford is the most notable case. But he was mercilessly pushed out by the team. Meanwhile, Kobbie Mainoo is slowing down after a year of explosion.

Coach Amorim has had almost all of his transfer requests met. And if he fails, this could be the last summer Man United have the money to spend big.
