Man City agree to loan defender to Inter Milan

Defender Manuel Akanji has reached an agreement to join Inter Milan, while Manchester City have also agreed to let him join Inter on loan with an option to buy.

Akanji no longer has a place at Manchester City.

According to initial revelations from journalist Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan sent a loan offer to Man City for Akanji. As for the Swiss player, there is additional information that he agrees with the prospect of joining the blue-black striped team.

Further updates from Romano indicate that the two clubs have agreed a loan fee of €2 million, with a €15 million buyout clause. However, this clause will only be enforced under strict conditions. Akanji will undergo a medical examination after agreeing personal terms with Inter.

If the deal is completed, Inter will have an experienced centre-back who has proven his ability in both the Premier League and Champions League, helping them increase their depth in their quest for titles this season.

For Man City, Akanji's departure will be a significant change in defense. The team will not immediately add a replacement, but rely on Ruben Dias, John Stones, Nathan Ake, Josko Gvardiol and Abdukodir Khusanov to shoulder the defensive duties.

The Swiss centre-back has been the subject of speculation for weeks, with a host of European clubs monitoring his situation. Earlier this month, reports linked him to Galatasaray and AC Milan, as well as Crystal Palace and Tottenham.

Akanji played a key role in City's historic treble-winning campaign two years ago, but his place under Pep Guardiola is now in question as the club look to add depth to their squad.
