My Thuy deep-water port has taken shape
One day in mid-August, we returned to the My Thuy Port project under construction after nearly half a year. Compared to before, the working atmosphere on this large construction site was much more enthusiastic and urgent; the shape of a deep-water port was clearly visible.
At wharf area No. 1 and No. 2, nearly ten large cranes are operating at full capacity, lifting large blocks of rock down to the wharf. Dozens of excavators and trucks are also mobilized to construct the wharf wall. On the wharf, hundreds of workers are working continuously in shifts. The contractor representative said that taking advantage of the beautiful sunny weather, the unit mobilized maximum machinery and construction labor in "3 shifts, 4 crews", speeding up the progress. Right next to the wharf, barges are dredging the turning basin, sucking sand to the storage yard, and piling it up in long rows, as high as mountains. The construction area behind the port is no less urgent when large trucks carrying materials continuously come in and out. A large construction site with a bustling working atmosphere is the picture in My Thuy these days.

Mr. Dao Van Dat, Deputy Project Manager of MTIP (investor) said that there are currently 6 contractors with about 500 workers and 100 machines and equipment working 24/7 in 2 shifts at the construction site. Regarding the progress, wharfs No. 1 and No. 2 have completed the system of bored piles, beams, and foundations. Currently, the contractor is placing the bridge deck slab; dredging the turning basin; dropping rocks under the wharf; building walls and items behind the wharf. According to the progress, wharf No. 1 will be completed by the end of November 2025; wharf No. 2 will be completed in the first quarter of 2026. For the infrastructure behind the port, the target must be completed before the wharf.
In order to create a working atmosphere at the construction site, the investor has set a target for contractors to compete to reach the finish line. “For example, on National Day September 2 or Capital Liberation Day October 10 this year, we set specific targets for each project item so that contractors can compete to achieve the volume,” Mr. Dat shared.
Bustling on major projects
On the Coastal Road project connecting the East-West Economic Corridor, there are currently 4 bidding packages being implemented simultaneously with an implementation value of about 620.47/1,616 billion VND, reaching 38.4%.
At the 1.8km section from Dong Ha bus station to Thach Han 1 bridge (under package VB-XL04), 4 teams are working on the foundation and 1 team is working on the culvert very urgently. About 30 vehicles transporting materials, 4 bulldozers, 5 road rollers and 50 workers are working in 2 shifts until 11 o'clock every night. "The progress of the section is basically guaranteed. Taking advantage of the nice weather, we are focusing on completing the roadbed before the rainy season comes," said Mr. Pham Hong Van, Site Commander of Truong Son Construction Corporation.
Leading us to the Thach Han 1 bridge under construction, Mr. Van happily informed us that the main items of the project have been basically completed, and workers are building the bridge railings. The approach bridge is required to be completed before September 30. Meanwhile, Thach Han 2 bridge has completed the T2 pier (left, right), casting beams; and is constructing the T1 pier on the left.

To date, the project has handed over 31.6/48km of land, reaching 66%; it is expected that in the third quarter of 2025, an additional 10.76km will be handed over; the remaining sections within the residential land and houses, 5.45km long, will be completed and handed over in 2026.
The Coastal Road Project connecting the East-West Economic Corridor (Phase 1) is expected to be a vital traffic route, contributing to the socio-economic development of Quang Tri province and the Central region, especially with inter-regional and inter-national connections. In recent times, the provincial leaders have paid special attention, closely inspected and directed regularly to speed up the project's progress.
Similarly, Component Project 2 - Nhat Le 3 Bridge and the roads at both ends of the bridge under the Coastal Road and Nhat Le 3 Bridge project are urgently removing remaining obstacles, especially site clearance work to speed up the completion progress.
The Department of Finance said that the entire Nhat Le 3 bridge's lower section and steel arch installation have been completed; the steel arch cable is being installed; railings and upper bridge structures are being installed (reaching about 86.21% of the volume). The bridge section is expected to be completed in September 2025; the project will be completed in 2026.
Speed up progress at 2 airports
At Quang Tri Airport, the project enterprise has been synchronously implementing construction items, divided into 4 construction packages. Specifically, the aircraft parking lot and connecting service roads have been completed since March 2025. The runway, taxiway and service roads are under construction. The passenger terminal has completed auxiliary items such as internal service roads, 22kV medium voltage power lines, transformer stations, construction site command office and construction support area, etc.
The air traffic control tower has also completed auxiliary items serving the construction. At Dong Hoi Airport, machinery and workers are also focusing on constructing Passenger Terminal T2. This component project started on April 19, 2025 and is expected to be completed and put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2026. Currently, the contractor is constructing phase 1 of the project, including piles and foundations for the passenger terminal.
During the project progress inspection at the end of July, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested that localities and investors complete phase 1 of the Quang Tri Airport project by July 2026 at the latest, striving to complete it earlier than April 30, 2026. Regarding the progress of Passenger Terminal T2 - Dong Hoi Airport, the Prime Minister requested to continue promoting the spirit of "working day and night, working on extra days off", striving to complete the project ahead of schedule by April 30, 2026.
From there, promote the advantages of Quang Tri with all types of transportation including expressways, North-South railways, high-speed railways, deep-water seaports, airports..., connecting the two East-West and North-South corridors, connecting with countries in the region and internationally.
We believe that with the strong direction of the central and local governments and the determination of investors and construction units, the province's key projects will soon reach the finish line; creating momentum for economic growth in the new period.
