New day in Quang Tri homeland

“This fall is different…”

As I write these lines, that verse keeps ringing in my heart. I recall many years ago, when my family visited the familiar “red addresses” of Quang Tri province (old) such as Quang Tri Citadel, Vinh Moc tunnel, Thach Han river, martyrs’ cemeteries… Admiring, appreciating and being proud of the generations of our ancestors who fell on this land, we love Quang Tri with sincere feelings, mixed with respect and gratitude. Since that day, this land has become a part of our family’s memories.

But “this autumn is different”, because that beloved land has become my homeland. During my first business trip in late July 2025, many of my colleagues and I were amazed by the roads lined with ancient cajuput trees in Hai Lang commune. And along the “new rural” road leading to the house of Vietnamese Heroic Mother Dao Thi Vui, Dai An Khe village, Hai Lang commune, there are endless purple flowers and green summer-autumn rice fields rustling in the wind. The feeling of emotion kept welling up in my heart because of the thought that this beautiful place, from now on, has become a part of my flesh and blood, a homeland to love, to remember and to be attached to for life.

That is also a familiar feeling when I think of Con Co Island, Hon La Island, Yen Island, the beaches, the prosperous villages along the waves along more than 190km of Quang Tri's coastline today. The "wind power fields" now stretch from the coast to the high mountains, imprinting a strong and proud appearance on the sky.

On the western border of more than 400km, the ethnic minorities Bru - Van Kieu, Pa Ko are closer and more attached to each other when their homeland is unified. And on the legendary Truong Son road - Ho Chi Minh road, where there are many "red addresses" marking the sacrifices and heroic feats of the previous generations, it continues to be extended, urging today's footsteps to steadily move forward.

Quang Tri today is proud of its two deep-water ports Hon La and My Thuy; five border economic zones and coastal economic zones; three international border gates: Lao Bao, La Lay, Cha Lo; modern and synchronous North-South and East-West traffic axes; two airports under construction and expansion. And above all, more than 1.8 million loving hearts beating together, sharing the same will and aspiration to rise up.

Ignite the desire to rise up

Carrying the wounds of war and great losses, after more than half a century of construction and reconstruction, this land of sun, wind, and storms still faces many hardships and difficulties. Perhaps that is why the people of Quang Tri are more resilient, more attached, more burning with the desire to rise up, striving to be worthy of the sacrifice of more than 79,000 heroes and martyrs who fell on this land.

During his visit and work in Quang Tri at the end of July 2025 with many activities, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed his belief and great expectations for the future development of the heroic land. Emphasizing that this place possesses many unique potentials, "that no other place has", the Prime Minister believes that Quang Tri will rise strongly, surpassing its own limits.

That belief is completely grounded, because in less than 2 months of "coming home together" with many difficulties, challenges and confusion, but with the spirit of "only discussing, not retreating", Quang Tri has had many new developments. The 2-level local government system has gradually operated effectively, meeting the needs of people and businesses. "The province is large, the commune is large", many boundaries have been removed, resources have been opened up. New names, new lands have become familiar, close, gradually imprinted in the minds of each person, fostering more love and pride for the homeland that is changing every day.

As the narrowest land of the country, "where the sea and forest meet", Quang Tri's sun and wind - harsh natural conditions - are being transformed into green energy sources by the hands, minds and intelligence of humans. Possessing a diverse transportation system with all types, Quang Tri is effectively connecting with provinces and cities in the country and countries in the region, and at the same time playing a key role in the North - South and East - West economic corridors. Blue sea, white sand, majestic cave systems, "red addresses", spiritual tourist destinations, unique indigenous cultural "treasures"... all are being awakened and exploited sustainably, opening up new opportunities for Quang Tri to rise up, becoming an attractive destination on the map of green energy, economy, tourism... This is a land that converges potential, aspirations and strong momentum for the future.

Confidence in the new era

Entering a new era, Quang Tri carries with it the belief and aspiration to reach further. Provincial Party Secretary Le Ngoc Quang affirmed: The instructions and trust from General Secretary To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and other Party and State leaders are a great source of encouragement, adding strength for Quang Tri to confidently conquer new heights.

Along with the successful organization of Party congresses at all levels and the 1st Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030, towards the 14th National Party Congress, Quang Tri will urgently concretize the enthusiastic instructions of General Secretary To Lam and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh into practical resolutions, directives, and action programs, integrated into the documents of Party Congresses at all levels to gradually realize the aspiration of building a united, prosperous, civilized, and shining Quang Tri in the new era of the country.
