World gold price today
World gold price increased today, with spot gold price at 3,475.70 USD/ounce. World gold price generally increased by 0.85% in the past 24 hours, equivalent to an increase of 29.2 USD/ounce.
With the domestic gold bar price basically stable and the world gold price listed at Kitco at 3,474.19 USD/ounce (equivalent to about 111 million VND/tael converted according to Vietcombank exchange rate, excluding taxes and fees), the difference between domestic and world gold prices is about 19.6 million VND/tael.
Gold hit its highest in more than four months on Monday, just $23 away from an all-time high, boosted by expectations of a Federal Reserve rate cut and a weaker dollar. Meanwhile, silver prices topped $40 an ounce for the first time since 2011.
At 9:37 a.m. Eastern Time (8:37 p.m. Hanoi time) on September 1, spot gold rose 0.9% to $3,477.56 an ounce, the highest level since April 22, when gold hit a record high of $3,500.05 an ounce. US gold futures for December 2025 delivery rose 0.9% to $3,547.70 an ounce.
US markets are closed on Monday for the Labor Day holiday. The US dollar is trading near its lowest level since July 28 against a basket of currencies, making dollar-denominated gold more attractive to foreign buyers. "Gold, and especially silver, extended its strong gains on Friday, supported by persistent US inflation, weak consumer confidence, expectations of interest rate cuts and concerns about the independence of the Fed," said Ole Hansen, head of commodity strategy at Saxo Bank.
World gold prices will fluctuate today (September 2) when the market will receive the August Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) of the Institute for Supply Management (ISM), followed by the JOLTS job openings data released on Wednesday. On Thursday, there will be the August ADP employment report, along with the weekly unemployment claims. The week ends on Friday with the US August non-farm payrolls report. Investors see signs of weakening employment as a factor that further confirms expectations that the Fed will cut interest rates in mid-September. This could impact gold prices in the future.
