More than 1.16 million candidates nationwide have completed the 2025 high school graduation exam. Of which, nearly 98% of candidates took the exam under the 2018 General Education Program; the remaining 2% took the exam under the 2006 General Education Program. Candidates studying the 2018 program take 4 subjects, including 2 compulsory subjects: Math, Literature and 2 elective subjects from the following subjects: Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economic Education & Law, Information Technology, Technology. Candidates in the 2006 program take 3 compulsory subjects: Math, Literature, Foreign Language and a combined exam of Natural Sciences or Social Sciences.
Literature subject predicted score range 6-7
Master Nguyen Phuoc Bao Khoi, lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, believes that the 2025 high school graduation exam in Literature is imbued with the breath of life, closely linked to the current situation of the country, both awakening the sense of respect for the past and evoking a sense of responsibility for the changes of the nation.

Moreover, the exam ensures good orientation for developing qualities and abilities of the 2018 Literature program, with high differentiation ability. The Reading Comprehension section has a text excerpt from a short story by Nguyen Minh Chau, a prominent writer with a philosophical narrative style. The writing of a literary argument is a subtle "escape route" that the test maker supports students with. The social argument section is not easy to identify the central and extended arguments, but if students stick to the content of the text and make good use of the answers to the reading comprehension questions, they will easily "pass the test". Teacher Khoi predicts the average score for Literature is from 6 to 7 points because the exam differentiates up to 6.5 points.
Math subject predicted score range 5-7
According to Mr. Tran Tuan Anh, a teacher at Thu Duc High School (HCMC), the Math test has a certain level of difficulty, with the difference in the questions (no longer short but more wordy), and the test does not take long to complete. Even for easy questions, reading and summarizing to understand the requirements of the problem takes quite a bit of time, not to mention processing the information. The classification questions of the test are in the true-false question section and the short answer question section, of which the most difficult question is in the combination question section.
According to Mr. Tuan Anh, the 2025 High School Graduation Math exam has a fairly good classification, partly because there is no more luck involved and the exam has many questions with high requirements for students (requiring mathematical modeling, applying mathematics to handle real-life situations, and perseverance).
In addition, the exam has integrated many questions using real-life materials such as: advertising messages, charity fundraising, business profits, secret letters, etc. This is a positive sign in accordance with the 2018 program, encouraging students to apply mathematical knowledge to solve problems in life, helping students see the practical meaning of mathematics. Teacher Tuan Anh predicts the average score for mathematics from 5 to 7.
English: Average score is around 5.5-6.5
Mr. Vu Ha Thanh Luan, English teacher of MV Lomonosov Secondary and High School ( Hanoi ) said that in the first year of implementing the high school graduation exam according to the 2018 General Education Program, the English exam has completely changed in structure compared to previous years. The exam has met the orientation of assessing capacity according to requirements, the content of the questions focuses mainly on students' reading comprehension ability. The reading topics closely follow the topics in the 2018 General Education Program. The topics are close to life: Environmental protection, spending management, festivals, technology,... In terms of grammar, students can easily recognize, not puzzled.

In particular, many of the vocabulary in the long reading passages are presented at an advanced level. This will be difficult for students who want to get a score of 8.5 or higher. Students need to have a good vocabulary, reading comprehension skills, paraphrasing skills and the ability to reason based on context to achieve a high score. This is a quality test and processing these 40 questions in 50 minutes is a challenge for good students.
The exam ensures both high school graduation and university admission. According to Mr. Thanh Luan, the English score range will be between 5.5 and 6.5.
Chemistry: Predicted score range 6-7
Mr. Huynh Thanh Phu, Principal of Bui Thi Xuan High School (HCMC) commented that the exam closely followed the spirit of innovation according to the 2018 General Education Program, ensuring reasonable differentiation, promoting thinking ability, and applying knowledge to practice instead of just testing pure memorization ability.
Part 1 consists of 18 objective multiple choice questions, distributing knowledge relatively evenly among the content of all 3 grades 10, 11 and 12. The questions are at a basic, reasonable level, not tricky, average students can do about 50%-60%.
Part 2 is the highlight with 4 true-false questions, each with 4 options that require careful analysis. Part 3 consists of 6 questions, mainly testing the ability to understand and solve basic chemistry problems.
Overall, the test is not too difficult but challenging enough to classify. Students who have a solid grasp of the knowledge and have a good test-taking strategy will easily score 8 points or more. Average students can get a safe score if they are not subjective and have studied seriously. The predicted score range for Chemistry is from 6 to 7.
History: Commonly 5's, many 8's and possibly more 10's than expected
Master Nguyen Viet Dang Du, Le Quy Don High School (HCMC) said that the History exam is similar to the Ministry's sample exam. The exam is highly generalized as the content covers all topics of the 12th grade program and 2 topics of grade 11. The exam is highly differentiated but satisfies both subjects who choose History to take the exam. For candidates who choose History only for the graduation exam, part 1 is quite easy. Part 2 is multiple choice with new materials that are completely not in the textbook, forcing students to apply their thinking and historical awareness to do the test.
