On August 23, information from Vinh Phuc General Hospital said that recently, doctors at this unit saved the life of a patient who had circulatory arrest twice in a short period of time.
The patient is Mr. D.VT (male, 37 years old, residing in Dao Tru, Tam Dao). It is known that while participating in a party with friends, Mr. T suddenly lost consciousness, fell into a deep coma, and turned purple.
Immediately, Mr. T was taken to Tam Dao District Medical Center for emergency treatment. Here, the patient experienced the first cardiac arrest and was quickly resuscitated by doctors.
After 5 minutes, the patient had a pulse again and was transferred to Vinh Phuc Provincial General Hospital to receive the golden time for emergency and treatment.

At the Emergency Department, the patient continued to have a second cardiac arrest. Thanks to the timely intervention of the on-duty team, after 20 minutes of fighting for his life, the patient's natural circulation was restored and he began to breathe on his own. The patient was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit immediately afterwards.
Medical history showed that the patient had bronchial asthma since childhood and had been drinking alcohol regularly for many years. Therefore, doctors performed a CT scan and blood gas test to clarify the cause of circulatory arrest.
The results showed that the patient had bilateral pneumothorax and severe metabolic acidosis.
Faced with the above situation, doctors performed bilateral pleurodesis to release the pleural cavity from pressure caused by air accumulation, helping the patient breathe more easily.
At the same time, because the patient has severe metabolic acidosis and respiratory acidosis, continuous blood filtration and endotracheal intubation are needed to eliminate acidogenic substances and acid radicals in the body.
6 days after intensive treatment, the patient was awake, breathing well, blood pressure normal, metabolic acidosis gone, no more pneumothorax on both sides.
The patient was weaned off the ventilator, the endotracheal tube and pleural drainage tube were removed, and he was transferred to the Department of Internal Medicine for continued monitoring and treatment.
After nearly 2 weeks of continuous treatment and resuscitation, the patient was able to communicate normally, eat orally, move well, without any significant sequelae. The patient was discharged from the hospital.
According to doctors at Vinh Phuc General Hospital, to prevent cases of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, people need to have regular health check-ups, especially those with a history of heart disease, blood pressure, lung disease, diabetes, etc.
If you see a family member or someone around you suddenly lose consciousness and stop breathing, you need to perform chest compressions right on the spot combined with proper mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, quickly call an ambulance for support and take the patient to the nearest medical facility to take advantage of the golden time to save the patient's life.
