
DNO - On the morning of August 29, Alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the City People's Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet welcomed Mr. Kim Tae Heum, Governor of Chungnam Province, South Korea.
At the meeting, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet and Governor of Chungnam Province Kim Tae Heum witnessed the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the Department of Foreign Affairs of Da Nang City and the Representative Office of Chungnam Province in Vietnam. This document aims to promote friendship and cooperation between the two localities.
According to the memorandum, the two agencies will promote foreign affairs and bilateral cooperation in many fields. Specifically, it includes economic development, industry, culture, arts, health, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, education and training. The two sides will also actively participate in promotional events and exhibitions in each locality, while promoting people-to-people exchanges and other areas of mutual interest.
The Chairman of the City People's Committee introduced Governor Kim Tae Heum and the delegation to Da Nang, especially emphasizing the remarkable achievements in cooperation with Korean localities in recent times.

From July 1, Da Nang began implementing a two-tier local government model. With its expanded area and population, the city has more space and room for strong development, enhancing its competitiveness in the region.
Currently, Da Nang maintains friendly cooperative relations with eight localities of South Korea, including Changwon, Daegu, Hwaseong, Jeju, Pyeongtaek, Osan, Yongin and Gwangyang.
The city has effectively implemented many cooperation programs with Korean localities in many fields, such as tourism , training, staff exchange, cultural exchange, as well as sharing experiences on green transport and smart cities.
Chungnam Province and Da Nang share many similarities, notably their roles as important economic hubs in each country's region, with strong development of manufacturing, high-tech and logistics industries.
In addition, both Chungnam and Da Nang have favorable geographical locations, possessing modern seaports, promoting international trade and regional connectivity. The two localities also boast rare and valuable ginseng species (ginseng and Ngoc Linh ginseng).
The Chairman of the City People's Committee expressed his delight at the signing of a bilateral cooperation agreement between the Department of Foreign Affairs of Da Nang and the Representative Office of Chungnam Province.

This agreement is an important basis for the two sides to carry out foreign affairs activities, enhance mutual understanding and move towards establishing official cooperative relations between the two localities in the future.
Governor Kim Tae Heum expressed his deep gratitude for the warm welcome of the city leaders. At the same time, he congratulated Da Nang on its rapid socio-economic development and prominent position on the international tourism map. The Governor also expressed his joy at the prospects of cooperation between Da Nang and Chungnam in the coming time.
Chungnam Governor said that the province has the third largest gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in Korea. Major industries include semiconductors, computer components, cosmetics, and medical equipment. In terms of agricultural products, the province is famous for ginseng, strawberries, pine needles, apples, garlic, melons, chili peppers, and grapes. In addition to economic development, Chungnam also boasts a long history and culture.
