At the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Chu Lai Truong Hai Automobile Mechanical Industrial Park expansion (Nui Thanh commune, Da Nang city) on August 28, THACO Deputy General Director Nguyen Hoang Tue emphasized that in the context of reshaping the global supply chain, Vietnam's mechanical and supporting industries have many opportunities to affirm their role in the world production network.
THACO Deputy General Director Nguyen Hoang Tue spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony for the Chu Lai Truong Hai Auto Mechanical Industrial Park expansion on August 28.
This industrial park includes an R&D center, a mechanical processing center, and spare parts factories; operating under the “All-in-one” model, with a value chain: Business - Product research & development (R&D) - Production - Installation, Operation and maintenance, providing a variety of products and synchronous, complete solutions for industries. Many products of THACO INDUSTRIES have been exported to more than 20 countries, affirming its position in the international market.
In the new development phase, THACO continues to invest and form a regional auto parts manufacturing center; at the same time, it expands the machinery and equipment manufacturing and mechanical processing center. All activities at the center follow a closed process from product design, material research - manufacturing, production, assembly - quality control to packaging and transportation, meeting international standards and specific customer requirements.
“In particular, with the railway industry - a field that is being prioritized for investment and development by the Government , THACO identifies this as an opportunity to contribute to the national transport infrastructure, while affirming its pioneering position in the mechanical engineering and supporting industries in Vietnam,” Mr. Nguyen Hoang Tue emphasized.
Previously, in May 2025, THACO leaders sent a document to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, proposing to participate in investing in the North-South high-speed railway project with a commitment to master technology and develop Vietnam's railway industry.
According to the proposal, THACO will invest in the project with a total capital of about 61.35 billion USD, of which 20% will be its own capital and legally mobilized domestically, equivalent to 12.27 billion USD; the remaining 80% of nearly 49.08 billion USD will be borrowed from domestic and foreign credit institutions. THACO proposed that the Government guarantee this loan and support interest for 30 years.
THACO will divide its investment into 7 years, prioritizing the sections with the most passengers first. Phase 1 from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang and from Hanoi to Ha Tinh will be completed in 5 years. Phase 2 from Ha Tinh to Nha Trang will be constructed in 2 years. The company affirms that it will not transfer the project, capital contribution or shares to foreign investors to ensure national security, safety and technological sovereignty.
The special point in THACO's proposal is the orientation to create and develop the domestic railway industry, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, digital industry... and the fundamental industries for the sustainable and self-reliant development of the country.
With the mechanical manufacturing foundation at THACO Chu Lai Industrial Park, THACO INDUSTRIES will cooperate with domestic enterprises to receive technology transfer, produce locomotives, train cars, operating equipment... At the same time, develop new supporting mechanical industrial parks in Binh Duong and Bac Ninh.
