  • Meeting the Head of the Liberation Art Troupe and Memories of a Time of Fire and War
  • The Border Guard Art Troupe performs art to serve officers, soldiers and people in the coastal border area.
  • Special Forces Regiment D10 celebrates its 80th anniversary

After decades away from the stage, the Ca Mau Province Liberation Art Troupe reunited with the audience on the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the founding of the heroic D10 Special Forces Regiment , at the Provincial Military Command. The beautiful reunion brought them back to the land of memories, where the artists and soldiers of the D10 were like fish and water, going through battlefields and outposts together. Beside the fierceness of bullets and bombs, beside the narrow losses, there were dances, performances, and songs with the content of fostering patriotism in the people, encouraging generations of soldiers to go to battle. From the barren land, the flower of art blossomed with color and fragrance to soothe the sky of fire and flowers.

The performance "Saigon Girl Carrying Ammunition" by a female choir of U70 and U80 received much applause from the audience.

Decades have passed, the sands and dust of time have made the artists and soldiers of the arts and crafts fade. How can we find back the youth of the past, a series of plays, animations, and songs were born carrying the meaning of the country and the mountains. By the kerosene lamp, on the stage made of horse boards, each night there were thousands of eyes and applause of admiration. The audience of that day watching the arts and crafts also had many veins of nostalgia, just a moment ago they were young soldiers, now their hair has turned gray, they have become veterans with many stories of their own lives.

But sadly, there were tears falling from the audience when they had the chance to see the 70s and 80s artists that they used to love. The plan for "85th anniversary of the founding of the heroic D10 Special Forces Regiment" had been made many days before, everyone wanted the participation of the class of artists. Only by listening to the artists sing and watching them perform would they be satisfied. The veteran artists such as Meritorious Artist Huynh Hanh, People's Artist Minh Duong, or Director Nguyen Tien Duong, Head of the Traditional Club of the Provincial Liberation Arts were all in poor health, so the task of gathering the brothers and sisters, arranging rehearsals, and planning the program was handed over to those who were stronger, namely Meritorious Artist Pham Dien, Artist Thanh Xuan, and Artist Thanh Cong.

Two artists Thanh Xuan and Viet Tien emotionally led the audience's emotions with the song "Ao Moi Ca Mau".

Artist Thanh Xuan carefully wrote each line of the script, writing the introduction with overflowing nostalgia. Each artist's name is associated with unforgettable stories, the hyphen between "then" and "now" seems like it was just yesterday. "There wasn't much time to practice, everyone was old, each person lived in a different place, so it was difficult to gather together. A day before the event, all the brothers and sisters were present at the late Meritorious Artist Kim Chi's house to assign the performance. When rehearsing, partly because of poor health, partly because of emotion, there were times when the movements were off, the movements were forgotten... That's why I laughed and felt sorry. Everyone tried to make the performance perfect...", Artist Thanh Xuan confided.

On the morning of August 9, “a tour” was recreated. The atmosphere of the anniversary meeting was gradually warmed up by the introduction of Artist Thanh Xuan. Then, she and Artist Viet Tien opened the program with a duet "Ao Moi Ca Mau" (Musician Thanh Son) with the intention of bringing the audience from the present back to the glorious past. Ca Mau has now put on a new, sparkling dress, but to have that continuous development, there is so much blood, tears, and sweat of the previous generations.

Artist Viet Tien performed an excerpt from the folk song "Guarding the homeland" which made the memories last longer.

“Chim oai deo” - The once famous artist Viet Tien calmly sang the excerpt of the cheo song “Giu dat que huong” (author Nguyen Nhieu - Lam Tuong Van). This excerpt is an unforgettable memory in her memory. It was in 1971, the Art Troupe came to Rung Duoc to perform, when hearing the humming voice of a 13-year-old girl, a soldier of D10 offered to teach her cheo tunes. In the morning he taught her, in the afternoon he went to fight and then sacrificed himself. Viet Tien of that year, is now almost seventy years old, but his every gesture and teaching is deeply engraved, that is why the cheo tunes “Sap qua cau”, “Loi lo”, “Dao lieu” when sung still trembled as if she was about to cry.

There was also the appearance of singer Tuyet Thu and Minh Nguyet with "Spring in the war zone" (Musician Xuan Hong). The harsh silence of time imprinted on the silver hair of singer Tuyet Thu brought many emotions to the audience, because together with Meritorious Artist Kim Chi, she was likened to a "golden nightingale", her clear voice with heroic songs through the times of military campaigns in the posts were all burning with revolutionary fire.

The participation of two singers Tuyet Thu and Minh Nguyet with "Spring in the war zone" brought a beautiful flow of emotions to the program.

The duet Tuyet Thu - Minh Nguyet that once thrilled soldiers are now 79 and 80 years old respectively. The two vọng cổ verses in "Tunnel Song" (poem by Pham Xuan Ich, vọng cổ by Pham Ngoc Thanh) sung by Meritorious Artist Pham Dien and Artist Anh Van easily remind the audience of the duet Minh Duong - Anh Xuan. Due to health reasons, People's Artist Minh Duong sat quietly watching the two singers on stage, and suddenly his heart also fell into a song lang rhythm.

The two verses of the "Tunnel Song" filled with the spirit of the Cultural Arts were woven together by Meritorious Artist Pham Dien and Artist Anh Van.

I watched the singing and dancing group "Saigon Girl Carrying Ammunition" (Musician Lu Nhat Vu), watched the innocence of artist Bich Xoàn as she threw and caught, juggled with her female colleagues who once used their voices to drown out the sound of bombs, and felt strangely elated. Just like a bird released back into its natural sky, the bird was free to fly, it had been a long time since I had seen her smile so bright on stage.

The final performance ended. The male and female artists returned to their normal lives, but surely each pair of feet stepping down the stage would carry with them many regrets. Reluctant because of the camaraderie and team spirit; reluctant because of the nostalgia of a time full of hardships but also full of harmony of Van Cong - D10; and also reluctant because of the beautiful artistic sky, the stage that they were passionate about and devoted to throughout their youth. Who knows when they will have the chance to return again, to sublimate like this again. Perhaps, the promise when made will be difficult to fulfill... Who knows what will happen in the future, when the days continue and age also piles up.
