Speaking at the program "Returning to the source - Towards the future", former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Kien (National Assembly delegate of the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th terms) said that since his retirement, he has always followed and contemplated the activities of the National Assembly.

According to Mr. Kien, each National Assembly term has a historical role and mission in each historical period. Each National Assembly term has its own difficulties and challenges, but all have excellently completed their tasks.

Regarding the 15th National Assembly, former Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Duc Kien pointed out 5 impressions, in which the National Assembly's activities are more democratic and constantly innovated in all aspects.

The National Assembly regularly and increasingly deeply implements its three functions, closely following the practical demands and development requirements of the country.

The next impression Mr. Kien mentioned was that the activities of the National Assembly were very urgent, the workload was very large, there were many extraordinary sessions...

Giving advice for the coming period, Mr. Kien said that the next National Assembly terms need to choose exemplary and intelligent people.

It is necessary to build the National Assembly into a good national opposition body, promote democracy, and make high-quality decisions.

In coordination with ministries, branches and localities, the National Assembly also needs to clearly demonstrate its "independent position".

The National Assembly also needs to select representative and prestigious people from all walks of life, build a structure to have a strong National Assembly, improve professionalism, and increase the proportion of full-time National Assembly deputies.

Regarding the activities of the National Assembly, it is necessary to have enough working time in the hall, so he proposed that "the National Assembly can meet 4 times a year instead of 2 times, each time lasting 15 days to be able to meet the actual requirements that arise".

He hopes and believes that future generations of National Assembly deputies will contribute to making the National Assembly's tradition glorious.

Former Vice President Truong My Hoa was excited and happy to see "an intelligent, confident, responsible National Assembly, devoted to the people. Today's National Assembly is the National Assembly of the new era, the highest authority, and also a reliable support and trust of the people".

The former Vice President hopes that the National Assembly will continue to strongly promote solidarity, contributing to the development of Vietnam in the era of national growth.

Speaking at the program, recalling the event of August 16, 1945, when the National Congress of Delegates was held in Tan Trao commune, Tuyen Quang province, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man stated that this was a major event, paving the way and laying the foundation for the establishment of the National Assembly.

The National Assembly Chairman stated that under the Party's leadership, after nearly 40 years of implementing the renovation process, the country has achieved extremely important achievements.

The economic scale in 2025 is estimated to reach about 500 billion USD, the average national income per capita will reach about 4,900 USD, the poverty rate will decrease to below 3%, and people's lives will be constantly improved.

In recent years, despite many difficulties and challenges, we have ensured growth targets, stabilized the macro economy, controlled inflation, and ensured social security.

National defense and security are firmly ensured; foreign affairs are increasingly strengthened, and the country's regional and international position is enhanced.

The work of building the political system has received special attention, especially in the past 6 months, when a revolution was carried out in streamlining the organizational apparatus, rearranging ministries, branches, administrative units, and building a two-level local government that officially operated since July 1.

The whole country is focusing on organizing party congresses at all levels, towards the 14th National Congress of the Party.

According to the National Assembly Chairman, the National Assembly is actively preparing for the election of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.

At the same time, it is expected that at the upcoming 10th session - the last session of the 15th National Assembly, the Government will submit to the National Assembly for consideration more than 90 contents, including consideration and approval of 47 draft laws.

The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that the National Assembly will continue to comprehensively innovate its activities and thinking in law-making. In the near future, the National Assembly will organize a forum on law-making.

The National Assembly Chairman emphasized that he will always pay attention to and coordinate with the province to restore and renovate the National Assembly Standing Committee Relic Site so that the relic site will always be a "red address" for propaganda and education about the traditions of the Vietnamese National Assembly.
