This is an event jointly organized by Nhan Dan Newspaper and the Ministry of Public Security nationwide, to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day September 2 and the Traditional Day of the People's Public Security (August 19).
In Ho Chi Minh City, city-level activities were held on Le Duan Street, in front of the Reunification Hall, with close coordination between units, departments, branches and localities.
From 5am, thousands of people were present, excitedly checking in, ready for the meaningful journey.
At exactly 6:00 a.m., all participants sang the National Anthem in unison according to the time frame of the National Flag Raising Ceremony at President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum, creating a solemn and sacred atmosphere, expressing patriotism and deep national pride.
This is the first time a walking activity has been organized simultaneously in 34 provinces and cities, with the participation of 3,321 communes, wards and administrative zones nationwide, demonstrating the solidarity and unanimity of the entire nation.
In addition to the commemorative significance, the Organizing Committee also calls on the community to make a commitment to reduce net emissions to "0" by 2050 through meaningful activities such as learning about green lifestyles, registering specific actions in daily life, and donating to build environmental protection funds and develop renewable energy.
The walking route in Ho Chi Minh City starts from 30/4 Park (Le Duan Street), passes through central streets such as Cong Xa Paris, Dong Khoi, Ton Duc Thang, Nguyen Hue, Ham Nghi, Quach Thi Trang roundabout, Le Loi, Pasteur and ends at Le Duan.
Pedestrians pass by the City Theater, creating an impressive scene. To ensure safety, the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police has announced the closure of many central streets from August 15 to 17.
The first athletes moved through Nguyen Hue walking street in the cool weather of Ho Chi Minh City, creating favorable conditions for the activity to take place smoothly.
Ms. Ngoc An (left cover) shared: "We woke up at 4am to participate in the activity. Seeing the image of people following each other with red flag shirts with yellow stars made me very proud and emotional."
The program aims to spread the message of “1 billion steps into the new era” – symbolizing solidarity and unity towards a green, clean and sustainable future. At the same time, the project “Love Vietnam” was also introduced, aiming to connect emotions, spread the image of the homeland to international friends, encourage experiences and promote smart tourism through the NFC check-in system at more than 200 locations across the country, contributing to building a modern, friendly and unique national tourism brand.
