Expanding Bai Chay Hospital contributes to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment

The Bai Chay Hospital expansion investment project is one of the projects and works selected by Quang Ninh province to be inaugurated, started, and launched simultaneously on August 19 to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 (1945 - 2025). The implementation of the project demonstrates the province's determination to invest in medical infrastructure, meet the needs of medical examination and treatment, and improve the quality of people's lives.

Perspective of investment project to expand Bai Chay Hospital.

Bai Chay Hospital is a grade I general medical unit under the provincial Department of Health. In recent years, Bai Chay Hospital has always received the province's attention in investing in infrastructure. Up to now, the hospital has 7 functional buildings ensuring the operation of 42 departments and rooms with 1,050 beds (1,300 actual beds), along with more than 900 staff, doctors and nurses. In addition, the hospital has continuously invested in modern and advanced medical equipment and machinery systems such as: 1.5Tesla MRI machine, 128-row CT Scanner, DSA digital angiography, digital X-ray system, 3D and 4D ultrasound system, smart operating room... At the same time, focusing on training and fostering human resources, having policies to attract and give special incentives to high-quality human resources. Up to now, the hospital has had a strong team of doctors, meeting the needs of medical examination and treatment, performing many advanced, specialized techniques of the central level, developing advanced techniques, minimally invasive interventions...

However, currently, the number of patients coming for medical examination and treatment at the hospital has exceeded the design standards. On average, the hospital receives about 1,500 - 2,000 patients for medical examination and over 1,100 inpatients per day. This reality puts considerable pressure on facilities, medical personnel, and the implementation of high technology. At the same time, it becomes a major barrier to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment.

Faced with the increasing demand for medical examination and treatment of the people, on March 13, 2025, the Provincial People's Committee issued a decision approving the investment project to expand Bai Chay Hospital in Bai Chay Ward, Quang Ninh Province on the basis of a comprehensive review, assessment of current facilities, and careful survey of people's needs. The project includes a treatment building and auxiliary works. The treatment building has 10 floors; of which, the first floor is arranged with a lobby, reception, surgical examination rooms, procedure rooms, thoracic neurology examination rooms, etc.; the second floor is arranged with an internal medicine - rehabilitation clinic, an ENT clinic, a neurology clinic, etc.; the third floor is arranged with a kidney, endocrinology, urology clinic, a respiratory clinic, a digestive clinic, etc.; the fourth floor is arranged with examination service rooms; the fifth floor is arranged with a sampling room, a duty room combined with receiving and returning results, etc.; The 6th floor will have a consulting room, a regular laboratory, a sterile procedure room, etc. In addition, the project will invest in synchronous interior equipment, surveillance cameras, fire prevention and fighting systems, etc. The project has a total investment of 210 billion VND, of which the cost of medical equipment is up to over 70 billion VND. The project implementation period is from 2025 to 2027.

Doctors at Bai Chay Hospital perform cerebral vascular imaging and intervention using digital subtraction angiography (DSA) for patients with cerebral infarction.

The project will ensure synchronous, modern facilities and equipment, on par with the region, improve the quality of medical services, continue to deploy advanced techniques, attract good doctors and high-quality human resources, meet the increasing demand for health care, and serve the people comprehensively.

This will help patients receive medical examination and treatment in a spacious, airy, and airy space. At the same time, it will create maximum conditions for the medical team to deploy advanced, modern, and high-tech techniques. Thanks to that, patients with serious illnesses can receive medical examination and treatment right at the provincial health facility, feel secure in their treatment, and save costs.

In particular, we are researching to establish new departments such as: Department of urology, department of pediatrics, department of oncology testing, etc., thereby providing the best health care for people in the province.
