RT reported that President Zelensky announced on Telegram on August 16 that he would travel to Washington next week for direct talks with US President Donald Trump.
"President Trump informed me about the meeting with the Russian leader, about the main points of the conversation. I will discuss with President Trump all the details of ending the conflict in Washington on August 18. Thank you for your invitation," President Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian leader added that he had a "long and meaningful conversation" lasting about 90 minutes with President Trump immediately after the Russia-US summit.
President Zelensky also said on Telegram that he supports President Trump's proposal for a trilateral meeting between the US, Russia and Ukraine. Russian President Putin's aide, Yury Ushakov, previously said that Russia and the US have not yet discussed a potential trilateral meeting.
“We discussed positive signals from the US side regarding participation in ensuring security for Ukraine,” Mr. Zelensky emphasized.
President Putin was warmly welcomed when he arrived in Alaska on August 15 (local time) for a summit with President Trump. Both Russian and American leaders praised the talks as constructive and good. Although Mr. Putin and Mr. Trump did not reach an agreement on Ukraine, President Trump said the sides were closer to resolving the conflict.
