Successfully running unit 1 of Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant expansion without load

It is expected that on August 19, Unit 1 of Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant will officially connect to the grid, more than 1 month ahead of schedule.

LILAMA 10 Joint Stock Company (a member of Vietnam Machinery Installation Corporation - LILAMA) has just coordinated with the investor and related units to successfully conduct a no-load test run of the expanded Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant Unit 1 at 100% capacity, and successfully conduct an overspeed test at 160%, meeting all technical requirements.

The project has a capacity of 480 MW including 2 units, providing about 500 million kWh of electricity per year to the national power system, contributing to improving the ability to exploit peak capacity, enhancing the safety, stability and efficiency of power system operation.

At the construction site, LILAMA 10 undertakes the installation of all pressure pipes, hydraulic mechanical equipment and electromechanical equipment of the factory.

Currently, LILAMA 10 has completed 98% of the installation of Unit 1 of the plant. Major items such as the water intake gate, downstream exit tunnel, unit, 500kV GIS station, transformer testing, etc. are basically completed.

It is expected that on August 18, the transformer will be energized, ensuring that unit 1 will be officially connected to the grid on August 19, more than 1 month ahead of schedule.

In addition to Unit 1, Unit 2 of the plant has reached 30% of its volume; is completing the Rotor assembly, installing turbine equipment, installing generator equipment and auxiliary systems..., expected to generate electricity in mid-December 2025.

To achieve this result, LILAMA 10 mobilized about 500 engineers and workers with modern equipment and machinery, working 3 continuous shifts.
