Abang Banatao's double in the first half helped U23 Philippines beat U23 Malaysia in the first match of Group A. This result made the group situation even more "death" when Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines could all win tickets to the semi-finals as Group A winners.
In Group A of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship, Malaysia and host Indonesia are the top candidates to reach the semi-finals.
