Quartz sand production and processing at Phong Dien Industrial Park

Enterprises play a leading role

In the industrial picture of Hue City, the textile and garment industry has emerged as a leading player, thanks to the presence of many enterprises belonging to the Vietnam Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex). Currently, in Hue City, there are 3 key units: Phu Bai Fiber Joint Stock Company, Vinatex Phu Hung Joint Stock Company and Hue Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company. These three units are strong enterprises of Vinatex, with stable development, creating brand impressions domestically and internationally. These enterprises are operating a total of 4 fiber factories, 1 dyeing factory and 5 garment factories, with an annual output contributing about 230 million USD, accounting for nearly 18% of the city's total export turnover. In particular, Vinatex has announced a plan to invest VND4,000 billion in the next 7-8 years to form a green fiber production ecosystem in Phu Bai Industrial Park (IP), aiming for a circular production model, reducing emissions, affirming a strategic step for the green industry in Hue.

Along with textiles, Kim Long Motor Hue Joint Stock Company (Kim Long Motor Hue) is considered the "leading crane" of the industry in the ancient capital of Hue. This enterprise is implementing phase 1, with an area of 165 hectares in Chan May - Lang Co Economic Zone (CM-LC), specializing in manufacturing, assembling and trading automobiles, manufacturing components and spare parts for the domestic and foreign passenger car market; it is also one of the major automobile manufacturers in the Central region, especially in the passenger car, bus and specialized vehicle segments. Not stopping at the output figure, what makes Kim Long Motor Hue different is its vision of sustainable development. This enterprise is focusing on the factor of "green - clean - high technology", demonstrated through investment in research on electric buses and clean fuel vehicles for urban transport.

Mr. Dao Viet Anh, General Director of Kim Long Motor Hue, said that by the end of June 2025, Kim Long Motor Hue had produced 2,100 passenger cars, contributing more than VND 410 billion to the budget and creating jobs for more than 3,100 workers. The company aims to produce 4,000 more cars and contribute an additional VND 1,200 billion to the budget in the last 6 months of this year.

In particular, at the end of June 2025, Kim Long Motor Hue officially signed a sales cooperation contract with Cho Thavee Group, a leading unit in Thailand specializing in the production of specialized vehicles and industrial transportation solutions. According to the signed content, Kim Long Motor Hue is responsible for designing, assembling, and producing an average of about 3,000 vehicles per year; Cho Thavee is responsible for distribution in markets such as Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and expanding to a number of other Southeast Asian countries.

Not only the “big guys”, Hue City also leaves its mark with large enterprises in the fields of processing quartz sand, cement, stone, wood, and mechanical and food industries… These are fields that create many jobs and increase the production capacity of supporting industries.

The above achievements have affirmed that the business sector in general, including non-state enterprises, is the main driving force promoting Hue City's industrial growth, while expanding competitiveness in the regional market.

Industry growth is strong

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, from the beginning of 2025 to now, the industry - construction sector has recorded a growth rate of nearly 13%. In particular, some sectors have recorded breakthrough growth such as: Automobile production increased 13 times, electricity production increased 62.6%, glove production increased more than 3.4 times. These figures not only show a recovery after difficulties, but also demonstrate the shift in industrial structure towards modernity, high added value with many breakthrough opportunities.

From the above growth, it can be seen that, in addition to the internal factors of enterprises, it also comes from the synchronous investment of industrial parks, economic zones and the investment attraction policies of the city. Currently, Phu Bai Industrial Park has an occupancy rate of up to 98%, demonstrating its great attraction to investors. Phong Dien Industrial Park has reached about 74%, Phu Da Industrial Park has reached about 42.5% and La Son Industrial Park has reached nearly 37%. In particular, CM-LC Economic Zone is becoming a bright spot in attracting industrial investment associated with seaports and logistics services.

Another highlight is the Gilimex Industrial Park (Phu Bai) with an area of 460 hectares and an infrastructure investment capital of more than VND2,600 billion. The technical infrastructure in this industrial park has been basically completed and has attracted many domestic and foreign secondary projects with a total registered capital of tens of thousands of billions of VND. These figures demonstrate the spreading power of Hue industry in the new period.

Along with the development of industrial parks, up to now, Hue City has established 10 industrial clusters (ICs) with an area of 323.24 hectares; of which 5 ICs have been put into operation, including: An Hoa IC (Huong An ward), Thuy Phuong IC (Thanh Thuy ward), Tu Ha IC (Huong Tra ward), Huong Hoa IC (Nam Dong commune), Huong Phu IC (Khe Tre commune) attracting 125 projects into operation, creating jobs for more than 9,510 workers. In addition, Hue City has decided to approve the investment policy to build technical infrastructure for Huong Van 2 IC (Huong Tra ward); Huong Phu IC (Khe Tre commune); Huong Xuan IC (Kim Tra ward) to attract and prioritize clean production industries, high technology...

Mr. Dang Huu Phuc, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said that the industry and trade sector will continue to accompany enterprises, focus on reforming administrative procedures, shortening project implementation time, especially procedures for implementing new investment projects, expanding investment in the industrial sector to ensure stable progress. In addition, the department is researching and proposing the establishment of new industrial parks in communes and wards to relocate production facilities out of residential areas, both to avoid environmental pollution and to create land funds to attract large-scale industrial investment...
