The reason for resuming operation of about 1,000 MW of capacity is that some thermal power plants with problems such as Quang Ninh, Nghi Son 1, Thai Binh 2 have been resolved. In addition, in the past few days, some mountainous and midland areas of the North have had light rain, so some small hydroelectric reservoirs have had more water to improve power generation.

Having an additional 1,000 MW of thermal power from the three thermal power plants mentioned above returning to supply will help reduce power outages in the North significantly.
According to the latest information from the Thai Binh 2 Oil and Gas Thermal Power Project Management Board, Thai Binh 2 Thermal Power Plant has been making efforts to generate commercial electricity and handle incidents to ensure the production of the most electricity for the country, minimizing the electricity shortage in the North.
The National Power System Control Center also said that currently, the amount of water flowing into the lake is mainly to regulate the water to ensure the minimum flow, hydropower plants operate to generate electricity at a moderate rate equal to the water flow. Many plants still have to stop generating electricity, mainly concentrated in the Northern and North Central regions such as Son La, Lai Chau , Hoi Quang, Thac Ba, Tuyen Quang, Hua Na, Trung Son to ensure the safety of the generator when operating with the flow and water column below the design.
In the face of forecasted prolonged heat, experts recommend increasing water storage in hydroelectric reservoirs; especially using water and electricity efficiently and economically. It is forecasted that in the next few days, the Northern region will have moderate to heavy rain, and hydroelectric reservoirs will actively store water to exceed the dead water level.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Vietnam Electricity Group are continuously urging and seeking solutions to increase the operation of thermal power sources to cope with the situation of water shortages in large hydroelectric reservoirs.
