The number of two-way visitors from Vietnam to Japan is continuously increasing.
On July 4 in Da Nang, the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) in Vietnam organized a seminar and business connection to promote Japanese tourism in 2025 with the participation of 22 tourism service providers from all over Japan, including government agencies, hotels, tour operators; and the presence of 26 travel companies from the Central region of Vietnam.

On the other hand, in 2024, the number of tourists from Japan to Vietnam will reach 166,500, an increase of 2.5 times compared to 2023. During Prime Minister Ishiba's visit to Vietnam in April 2025, Japan and Vietnam expressed their determination to further promote tourism exchanges with the goal of reaching 2 million two-way tourists per year.
Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang Nguyen Thi Hoai An added that the Japanese market has always been one of Da Nang's key international markets. In 2024, the city welcomed more than 179,000 Japanese visitors; in the first 6 months of 2025 alone, it reached more than 108,000, nearly double the same period last year.
After the Narita - Da Nang route was restored from March 2023, recently on July 3, the Osaka - Da Nang route was also re-operated by Vietnam Airlines. Currently, Da Nang is connected to two major cities of Japan, Tokyo and Osaka, via 11 direct flights per week (7 flights from Narita, 4 flights from Osaka).
“The resumption of the Osaka - Da Nang route takes place in the context of the World Tourism Exhibition in Osaka (EXPO 2025) attracting great attention from Vietnamese tourists. We hope this will promote an increase in the number of two-way visitors between Central Vietnam and Japan, contributing to further promoting tourism, trade and cultural exchanges between the two countries,” said Ms. Matsumoto - Chief Representative of JNTO in Vietnam.

Mr. Mori Takero - Consul General of Japan in Da Nang emphasized that after merging with Quang Nam province, the new Da Nang city has received many more rich tourism resources. Specifically, besides the world heritages of Hoi An and My Son, there are also green tourism destinations such as Hoiana resort, Tra Ly lotus pond, community tourism destinations such as pottery village, and cafes in the middle of rice fields near Hoi An...
In the first 6 months of 2025, Da Nang City recorded an economic growth rate of 11.7%. In the coming time, with the development of the semiconductor and AI industries, the formation of free trade zones and international financial centers, the number of tourists and traders coming to Da Nang is forecasted to continue to increase with the increase in business demand.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai An further informed the Japanese partners that the new Da Nang City has an area of over 11,800 km² and a population of over 3 million people, with many diverse cultural and natural heritage resources. The merger opens up huge potential in terms of space, infrastructure and development resources, making Da Nang an important driving force of the Central Key Economic Zone.
In its development orientation for the coming time, Da Nang aims to become a high-quality tourism and service center, a creative destination of Vietnam and Southeast Asia by 2030, aiming to become one of the leading tourism centers in Asia and the world by 2045.
“We hope that businesses will make the most of favorable factors such as the establishment of the new Da Nang City, the increase of direct flights and the increase in business demand to expand cooperation, develop markets and implement specific, practical and sustainable promotion programs, contributing to the implementation of the goals agreed upon by senior leaders,” said Mr. Mori Takero.
