British media said that coach Mauricio Pochettino really wants the Ecuadorian player to strengthen his already thin midfield.
Brighton still maintains a tough stance when demanding 100 million pounds before considering "releasing the player".
Yesterday (August 3), Chelsea and Brighton finalized the transfer deal for goalkeeper Robert Sanchez for a fee of 25 million pounds.
The Blues leadership is optimistic that the good relationship after the deals to bring coach Graham Potter and full-back Marc Cucurella will help them succeed with Caicedo.
Previously, Chelsea put 60, 70 and 80 million pounds on the negotiating table but were all rejected by Brighton.
Coach Pochettino sees Caicedo as the ideal partner to play alongside Enzo Fernandez in midfield next season, so he is determined to recruit him.
The Ecuadorian himself wants to leave. However, Brighton have the upper hand as Caicedo is under contract until 2027.
Last summer, Chelsea allowed N'Golo Kante, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Matteo Kovacic, and Mason Mount to leave Stamford Bridge.
Therefore, The Blues' midfield is anchored with a series of inexperienced names such as Chukwuemeka, Andrey Santos or Casadei.
