
At 6:00 a.m. on July 30, the Operations Committee of the Da Nang City Border Guard Command received information from Binh Minh Border Guard Station about a fishing boat with engine failure at sea.
Accordingly, Mr. Tran Van Truc (Binh Tinh village, Thang An commune) went to Binh Minh Border Guard Station to report that the boat of Mr. Tran Dinh Tam (same locality) had a broken engine and drifted while fishing, at coordinates 15°46'N - 108°40'E, about 13 nautical miles from Cu Lao Cham. The family requested urgent support.
Receiving the dispatch order, at 6:50 a.m., Border Guard Squadron 2 dispatched ship BP 43.1301 and 5 officers and soldiers from Cu Lao Cham Island to carry out the rescue mission.

At 12:20 p.m., the Border Guard Squadron 2 ship found the broken-down sampan and the fishermen and was towing them back to Binh Minh Border Guard Station.
According to verification, the sampan had no registration number, was anchored on the beach, left the shore at 4:00 p.m. on July 29 from Binh Tinh village to fish, and had only one worker, Mr. Tran Dinh Tam.
