Gensler Research Institute is a globally recognized organization in the field of urban design, architecture and human behavior research. The 2025 survey was conducted with more than 33,000 people in 65 cities on 6 continents, of which Ho Chi Minh City is one of the typical representatives of the Asia- Pacific region. The special feature of this survey, in addition to measuring satisfaction, also delves into life emotions - factors such as belonging, pride and desire to live long-term in the city.

Ho Chi Minh City is highly appreciated for bringing positive emotions to residents. Specifically, people do not find life here boring, feel familiar as if they were in their own home, have pride in where they live and are willing to stay in the city for a long time. Notably, that feeling does not fade but becomes deeper over time. Statistics show that up to 61% of residents said they have "little or no intention of leaving".

With this result, Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa, Deputy Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism , commented that this is a positive signal not only for the city but also for the tourism industry: "A city where people are willing to stay long term is a place that can retain tourists. Residents are both service users and storytellers, inspiring tourists."

The City Pulse 2025 survey results are the result of Ho Chi Minh City’s continuous efforts in recent years. The city has shifted its tourism development focus from simple sightseeing activities to building authentic living experiences, closely linked to local life, contemporary urban culture and creative spaces.

"A series of ecosystem solutions have been deployed: from developing walking streets, culinary spaces and tourism products associated with heritage, to organizing typical festivals, enhancing night tourism and MICE. In addition, digital technology is also actively applied with tools such as digital tourism maps, information management platforms and tourist experiences," added Mr. Le Truong Hien Hoa.

In the post-merger strategy, Ho Chi Minh City also plays a central role in the inter-regional destination system: connecting with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau as complementary spaces for ecology, resort and tourism industry. This opens up the potential for tourists not only to visit, but also to stay long-term to experience an open, convenient and unique urban lifestyle.
