BlackBerry Priv was launched in late 2015 with the hope of saving the company's declining market share. The device has a unique sliding design, combining a touch screen and a physical QWERTY keyboard.
The Priv runs Android instead of its own operating system, marking a major turning point for BlackBerry. Powerful configuration, high security and special input experience are outstanding plus points.
However, sales only reached 650,000 units, lower than expectations, making Priv considered a failure. Android users don't need a physical keyboard, while BlackBerry fans are reluctant to change platforms. If the Priv had been successful, there could have been a much more powerful and groundbreaking Priv 2.
