Average 6 months, CPI increased by 3.27%; inflation under control

(Chinhphu.vn) - According to the announcement at the press conference on the Socio-Economic Situation in the Second Quarter and the First 6 Months of 2025 by the General Statistics Office (Ministry of Finance), compared to the same period last year, the average CPI in the first 6 months increased by 3.27%; CPI in the second quarter increased by 3.31%.

Of the 11 main consumer goods and services groups, 10 groups increased in price and only the post and telecommunications group decreased in price.

Compared to the same period last year, the CPI in June increased by 3.57%, with 9 groups increasing in price and 2 groups decreasing in price. For the whole second quarter, the CPI increased by 3.31% compared to the same period in 2024. Director of the General Statistics Office Nguyen Thi Huong said that consumer demand during the April 30-May 1 holiday and the Doan Ngo Festival affected the food and catering services group; the electricity price index increased; some provinces and centrally run cities increased tuition fees for the new school year 2024-2025; jewelry prices increased following domestic and world gold prices...

On the other hand, the price index of the transport group decreased by 4.83%, causing the CPI to decrease by 0.47 percentage points; in which, the price of gasoline and oil decreased by 15.31% according to world prices; the price index of the postal and telecommunications group decreased due to the decrease in the price of old-generation phones.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, in the face of many fluctuations in the world situation, right from the first month of the year, the Government and the Prime Minister have proactively, resolutely, and closely directed ministries, branches, and localities to implement many solutions to remove difficulties, promote growth, maintain macroeconomic stability, and control inflation such as: Ensuring smooth supply, circulation, and distribution of goods and services; reducing lending interest rates, stabilizing the foreign exchange market; and promoting disbursement of public investment capital.

At the same time, deploy credit packages to support industries and sectors; reduce value-added tax on a number of groups of goods and services; reduce environmental protection tax on gasoline; exempt, reduce, and extend taxes, fees, and land use fees to support businesses and people; organize and closely monitor the supply and demand and market prices of essential goods to have appropriate management measures.

In addition, factors that increased the CPI in the second quarter of 2025 compared to the same period last year include: Price index of food and catering services increased by 3.69%; price index of pork increased by 12.75%; price index of housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials increased by 5.73%; price index of household electricity increased by 5.51%; price index of medicine and medical services increased by 13.87%; price index of household equipment and appliances increased by 1.6%;...

On the other hand, factors that reduced CPI were: Transport group index decreased by 3.63%; price index of post and telecommunications group decreased by 0.45%;../.
