Chikungunya disease - the "culprit" that puts 5.6 billion people at risk of disease
Chikungunya is a disease caused by the Chikungunya virus, transmitted mainly by Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes, the same type of mosquitoes that cause dengue fever and Zika virus disease. This disease causes high fever, severe joint pain, weakness, and can be fatal. The World Health Organization (WHO) said that the disease has currently been detected and transmitted in 119 countries worldwide, putting 5.6 billion people at risk of infection.
