Attending the event were representatives from the Ministry of Health , the Tobacco Control Fund; Mr. Nguyen Chi Tai, Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee; and relevant ministries, sectors and organizations. On the international side, there were Dr. Angela Pratt, WHO Representative in Vietnam; Dr. Somsak Chunharas, Chairman of the SEATCA Council and the SEATCA delegation; Mr. Hor Sarun, Deputy Minister of Tourism of Cambodia; Mayors of Iloilo, Baguio, New Lucena (Philippines); and more than 100 delegates from WHO, Health Bridge Canada, ASEAN and regional organizations.

Speaking at the Conference, Master, Doctor Phan Thi Hai, Deputy Director of the Tobacco Harm Prevention Fund, emphasized the significance of building a smoke-free tourism environment. Over the years, with the support of international organizations, the coordination of ASEAN countries and SEATCA, the Fund has worked with ministries, branches and localities to implement many activities, achieving important results in protecting public health and implementing the WHO Framework Convention. In tourism, Hue city, Hoi An, Ha Long and many other localities have pioneered the "Smoke-free tourism" initiative, contributing to environmental protection and enhancing the image of civilized and friendly destinations.

Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee Nguyen Chi Tai affirmed that the city considers tobacco harm prevention an important part of its sustainable development strategy. The city has strictly implemented the ban on smoking in historical sites, schools, hospitals, and office buildings; promoted propaganda in the community, especially in schools and the tourism industry; mobilized the participation of organizations, youth and the media to change social awareness and behavior; pioneered the construction of the "Smoke-free City" model and committed to continuing to maintain and expand the results.
This conference is an opportunity for ASEAN countries to strengthen their connections, apply the ASEAN Smoke-Free Rating System, and expand partnerships and cooperation between cities. The success of the conference not only contributes to strengthening regional and global cooperation, but also opens up the prospect of a green, clean, safe ASEAN for public health, associated with the image of smoke-free tourist destinations.
