Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Thai, Chairwoman of the Provincial Women's Union and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen, National Coordinator of the Small Grants Program (SGP), Global Environment Facility (GEF) chaired the workshop.
This project is funded by GEF/SGP, with a total budget of 200,000 USD, expected to be implemented in 15 months (September 2025 - December 2026). The Provincial Women's Union is the unit receiving the funding and directly implementing the project according to GEF principles. The implementation area is An Hoa Hai commune, where the unique Hon Yen coral reef ecosystem is ranked as a national scenic spot.
According to the draft proposal, the project will implement activities including: communication to raise awareness to unify actions of local authorities and the community; improve the effectiveness of coral reef conservation management associated with sustainable exploitation and development of aquatic resources at Hon Yen; develop community tourism , expand livelihoods for local people; enhance community capacity in preserving and promoting cultural values of coastal villages...
Within the framework of the project, to promote green transportation and improve the quality of sustainable tourism services in Hon Yen, UNDP signed a memorandum of support for 8 electric bicycles for Hon Yen Tourism Cooperative, contributing to reducing emissions and increasing the experience for tourists.
The project is expected to not only contribute to preserving natural heritage and developing local socio-economic development, but also create an attractive highlight for tours and tourist routes in the province in the future...
