Promoting the message of preserving and promoting the value of Vietnam's ancient ceramic heritage, the museum regularly and thematically exhibits a large number of ceramic artifacts. In particular, there is a "ceramic pot" belonging to the Dong Son cultural artifacts group, recognized as a National Treasure (13th batch) according to Decision No. 1712/QD/QD-TTg, dated December 31, 2024 of the Prime Minister ...
In addition, the museum also has more than 400 ancient ceramic artifacts, belonging to pre-Dong Son cultures, such as: Phung Nguyen, Dong Dau, Go Mun...; Bronze Age cultures such as: Sa Huynh; prehistoric cultures of the Dong Nai river basin, as well as collections of artifacts from several periods in Vietnam's feudal history.
Pottery appeared in Vietnam during the Hoa Binh culture period about 10,000 years ago, followed by a series of other cultures such as Cai Beo, Ha Long, Hoa Loc, Con Chan Tien... Then, about 4,000-2,500 years ago in the Phung Nguyen, Dong Dau, Go Mun and Dong Son cultures..., pottery developed continuously with many new forms. And the development of pottery technology also contributed greatly to the completion of bronze molds, iron cooking pots... promoting the development of the metal age and the nation building process.
The national treasure “ceramic pot” is a typical ceramic product in the life of the people of Dong So culture. The pot is made of baked clay, fine clay mixed with sand, plant residue, small gravel, mixed with yellow ochre powder, the ceramic bone is relatively hard, strong, reddish gray. Through microphotographs, it shows that the ceramic was fired at high temperature, about 800-9000C. This is an artifact of the ancient Vietnamese people during the time of the Hung Kings who founded the country, discovered, researched and highly appreciated by archaeologists in the hierarchy of Dong Son culture ceramics.
The Museum of Ceramics of the Nation Building Period not only provides vivid documents for historical and archaeological research, but also educates the community about the value of national heritage. At the same time, the museum also connects the community, creates a diverse experience space, and arouses pride in Vietnamese culture in the public, especially the young generation.
