Storm No. 6 Nongfa approaches the central coast

(QNgTV)- This morning, August 30, the tropical depression has strengthened into a storm named Nongfa, becoming the 6th storm this year, moving towards the mainland of Ha Tinh to Quang Tri. Today, many provinces in the Central region are forecast to have heavy to very heavy rain.

The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said that at 9am this morning, the eye of the storm was about 210km from Ha Tinh to northern Quang Tri. Storm No. 6 has the international name Nongfa.

It is forecasted that in the next 12 hours, the storm will move West Northwest, make landfall from Ha Tinh to northern Quang Tri provinces, then move to Laos, weaken and gradually dissipate.

From noon today, the coastal mainland of the provinces from Nghe An to Quang Tri will have stronger winds of level 6, gusting to level 8. The coastal mainland of Ha Tinh to northern Quang Tri will have winds of level 6-7, near the storm center will have winds of level 8, gusting to level 10.

Last night and early this morning, the North, Central and South had showers and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy to very heavy rain. The rainfall from 7pm last night to 3am this morning was over 130mm in some places, such as: Cho Trang station (Nghe An) 134.6mm, Huong Quang station ( Ha Tinh ) 160.2mm.

From this morning to tomorrow, August 31, the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue City will have heavy to very heavy rain with common rainfall from 150-300mm, some places over 500mm. Today in Da Nang City, there will be heavy rain with common rainfall from 40-90mm, some places very heavy rain over 150mm.

From today to tomorrow, August 31, the midlands and deltas of the North will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms with common rainfall of 100-200mm, in some places very heavy rain over 400mm.

Warning of the risk of heavy rain (>150mm/3 hours). In addition, today and tonight, other places in the North, the Central Highlands and the South will have moderate rain and thunderstorms with rainfall of 20-40mm, some places with heavy rain over 100mm.

In the East of the area from Quang Ngai to Lam Dong , there will be showers and thunderstorms, with some places experiencing heavy rain with rainfall from 10-30mm, some places over 80mm. Warning of the risk of heavy rain (>70mm/3 hours). During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
